Does anyone seem to think that it is going to be a disappointment? Seen alot if info on it, just doesn't seem like a whole lot to get excited about.

If the price is really $899/$999, that alone is enough to kill it on my book. It's not a premium piece of hardware so not sure why they'd price it as such.

This is basically the same talking point anytime a new phone is introduced now. The technology has matured to the point that there aren't going to be major feature additions in the future. Until there is some kind of breakthrough we are in for rather mediocre upgrades. All of these same things were said about the pixel 3 as well as the last 2 iPhones.

I do disagree with one point though, how is it not a premium piece of hardware? It has 6 GB ram, the latest SOC, pixel core, Samsung oled display, soli, face Id, wireless charging... The only negative I have seen hardware wise is the battery size, but even then, no one knows what real world usage will be

I also agree that the price

I am pretty concerned about the battery and what kind of usage you can get out of it. If reviews show it to he worthy, I will pull the trigger. If not it is back to the drawing board for me on which phone to get

Anybody else feel disappointed they got rid of the fingerprint sensor?

I love the fingerprint sensors, but if faceid works as well as it does on iOS, which initial reports say it does, then I think people will get used to it.

As far as battery life, the size is not much different than the other pixels. It really is going to come down to real world tests. On paper, the pixel 3 had a bigger battery than the 2, but most real world reviews I saw said it got the same or worse life. So size is not the end all be all, just ask my wife

I am, although im not getting the 4. Will probably wait until the 5. Although if the fingerprint is gone on the 4 no chance it comes back for the 5, so yeah im slightly disappointed.

Maybe the 5 will have an underglass fingerprint sensor. I dont really know why it has to be fingerprint sensor or FaceID, why not both?

Plus 90hz refresh rate. It's premium hardware with premium software.

Just wait a couple weeks until they run a special on them. It's happened the past couple Pixel releases. I picked up a 3xl last year on Black Friday for $400 off.

Not to mention pixels usually come with bugs right out of the box. Buying a new pixel in the first month is never a good idea for the reason you stated plus the bugs.

It launches so close to Black Friday its crazy not to wait until around then.

Will be a premium phone priced just right. But will wait for that Black Friday sale because two years in a row it dropped significantly. Fool me once..

I have the 2XL and will probably upgrade to the 4. The 2XL still runs like new. Quite amazing. I just want something new. The pure Android and software updates alone make it worth it for me. I'm kind of sad on the fingerprint thing but I'm sure I'll get used it.

I'm curious, what if you wake up for work at 5AM and it's dark, but you want to look at your phone. How does faceid work in the dark? Fingerprint sensor is just fine

I'd imagine it would be the same as when you have on gloves and fingerprint doesn't work...

I don't have face Id, but my understanding is that it has some type of ir built in for dark areas. I could be wrong though, as I've never used it.

But if that's the only issue you can just unlock your phone with a pin. I don't think that very specific incident should be an indictment of face Id tech. There are also plenty of times when my fingerprint sensor doesn't read and I have to use pin to unlock.

I love fingerprint sensors, but they seem to be going away, and there is a good alternative so I don't see a major issue.

Nice to see Wizziko was front and center for the event. Looking forward to hearing his thoughts about the 4

At least on iOS, it works poorly, it doesn't like closed eyes as a method to protect against people holding it up to your face when you aren't looking. When you are half asleep in a dark room, sometimes getting it to work can be a chore, which you will just fall back to entering the code or pattern unlock. I rather fingerprint sensors, hopefully they get under screen fingerprint working for all the manufacturers.

I have a 2XL and am keeping it until the wheels fall off. I've had no problems with this phone at all. My only complaint is no headphone jack.

It's ok I guess. I'm disappointed in the new Pixel Buds. Only 5 hours of battery is barely average. Other earbuds are doing better than that.
