Rumors seem to be firming up and expect more leaks this week as the YT community gets their test cameras. Impressive specs that makes the A1ii potentially obsolete.
Hopefully the price isn’t at $5K as rumored. I currently use a Sony A7IV and have been awaiting the RVI launch as a potential upgrade.

67MP with 30 FPS?
Good lord. How much storage are you going to need for this thing? How big is the buffer? Can memory cards keep up?

A very large CFA Express…which is unfortunately becoming like buying another lens they are getting so expensive.

Personally, I think the MP race is over kill. Are folks printing billboard sized images?
I mean that would allow one to easily print roughly 4'x6' at 150 DPI. When you consider viewing distance for an image that size, nobody is looking at an image that size from 2 feet away. More like 8-10' away.

I haven't upgraded from the A7S2. I've been tempted occasionally, but I don't really use it much anymore. It's a PITA to lug it around unless I'm trying to get good video or something specific that I want a good lens for. Other than that I guess I'm just a lazy phone photographer anymore. I'm sure that will change with grand kids though.

I still shoot the A900 and A99. Nobody's complained to me about image quality.
Try lugging this setup around for a day...

I think it's mostly about the ability to crop. But, the idea of me going from 30MB files to 60+MB files for every RAW is painful.

I took 2700 45mp photos at a u16 soccer game last month and didn’t even shoot the last 15 minutes or so of the game. 30 fps is a lot. And if you use precapture, at least with Canon, that’s 15 more frames at the beginning of every burst. 67mp AND 30 fps sounds awful.

It’s an option to use but you don’t HAVE to shoot 30fps. Third party lenses will be throttled to 15fps anyways.
However, 30fps and 67mp seems amazing for wildlife photography.
It becomes a true “do it all” camera in that it’s equally as good for studio portraits.
I’m interested in how the dynamic range progresses. The A7V was impressive with the new tech boosting dynamic range. I have to think the RVI will be as good or better.
Bigger picture is this will make the A1ii obsolete so either the A1 line is going away and combining with the R line or there is something really differentiated that the A1iii will offer.
The margins for improvement just aren’t that wide at this point…image quality is already spectacular in modern mirrorless, lenses are getting to be so good by 3rd parties that you have real options outside the OEMs, readout speeds only need to realistically go so high. Autofocus has advanced leaps in recent years. Battery life is a nice improvement but not a game changer. Dynamic range is one of the most valuable improvements that can be made otherwise it will be removing weight/ergonomics.

This part right here is super frustrating and has kept me from upgrading (my Fujifilm xs10, xe4 & xt4 render some of the best 1080p 8bit footage you can get, and WAY less data intensive than 10bit workflows)
Clients don’t know the difference between 4k 10 bit and 1080p 8bit for the most part and I can still use San Disk Extreme pro cards (that I have a bunch of) but everything is damn near 3x to 5x their standard data pricing right now and very frustrating
