PC shutting off and on repeatedly, need help
This is what I've got in my PC currently. Built this about a year and a half ago. The issue I'm having right now is my PC is sporadically shutting off then turning back on again repeatedly. Off the top of my head, it could be a power supply issue given that those can burn out pretty quickly but the one I have is highly rated and doesn't have more than 2000 hrs of gaming on it. It's plenty of wattage Although this issue is new to me, I haven't played any video games on it regularly for about a year.

Could it be a graphics driver issue?

Is it a RAM issue given I cheaped out on RAM because of how expensive it was at the time?

Could it be an electrical shortage? I have my PC and my monitor plugged into and and extension cord which shares the same wall outlet as a wifi power-line adapter.

Any solutions and advice would be appreciated.

Could be overheating. Check your fan.

I second this.

If it overheats then it will for sure shut off and maybe try to reboot as if it was restarting

I've had them shut off completely though

They bought everyone at our work Uninterruptible Power Supply/Battery UPS, but we tossed them all several months later when our PCs started randomly going off then back on.

Plugged back into the AC outlet, and no more problems.

Could be an issue if you have one of those.

Nah overheating isn't the issue, I've got a program monitoring CPU, GPU and motherboard temps at all times and it's always running cool if I'm not bogging it down.

Plus it happens often a few minutes after I turn it on and even while idle.

ETA: Gonna strip it down completely, clean each part and re-assemble it. Gonna start there.

I'd start with:

New power cord
Then try new socket
Then update drivers on everything
Then strip down

If that was your IT Dept buying those UPS, they need to be fired. A lot of money wasted trying to cheap out on UPS

Which version of Windows? Are you able to boot into safe mode? If so, it's probably a driver issue.

It looks like you've got 2 x 8 GB RAM from the BOM.

If it's RAM related... I'd try reseating the RAM first and if the problem persists try one stick at a time to see if you can isolate it.

Any chance you've checked the Windows (assumption) Error reporting log?

Could be a lot simpler than replacing and reseating hardware.

I don't understand this. You are having a problem with the computer shutting down yet you have a program continuously monitoring temps? All the symptoms seem to me it's a temp issue. Your powering it on and when it reaches temp it reboots. Are you saying in the few minutes it is on you have your temp program open and you are continuously monitoring the temp when it shuts down. If so, what is the temp of the CPU when it reboots?

Temp is always less than 60C. My CPU stays cool easily because I delided it replaced the crappy thermal paste they use with liquid metal.

I think I might have fixed the issue. I think it might have been because I had the PC and the monitor plugged into an outlet shared by a wifi power line adapter. Ever since I moved the power line adapter to a different outlet and plugged the monitor and PC straight into the outlet, it hasn't randomly shut down.
