If it's not going to get wet or be in direct sunlight a regular cheap arse TV is the way to go.

I'd keep it unplugged

I've had a refurb 55" Vizio on my patio going on 6 years now, always plugged in, never covered, throughout the summer and winter on the northshore. No issues to date.

I have not kept a TV outside, but I did park a wireless speaker under the covered patio for years. Its twin inside never had an issue, bit the outside one, after several years of being out there year around, started making static noises when I adjusted the volume. Guess the reheostat or whatever got some corrosion from humidity.

I might gamble on a regular TV and see how it fares. Those true outdoor models are often expensive. Might be cheaper to replace as needed. And they only get cheaper,

Here is a followup question if anyone else is still following the thread.

I dont have brick or vinyl siding where i want to mount the tv. I have very thick wood veneers (i guess that is what you call it) or maybe thick wood siding? How do i find studs behind that stuff to mount a load on?

I have a 70" on mine above the fireplace. I got the biggest that would fit and haven't looked back. It's a cheep BF Samsung and has been outside for 3 years now. Under a cover so stays mostly dry (depends on wind might get mist) and it might get a touch of morning sun. No issues yet...hell I think there are mud wasp nest on the back

That I'm not sure of. Will a stud finder go deep enough past the wood siding? Do you need to or can you go direct to the siding?

Stud finder will work. If your mount has 2 rows of holes for lag screws you need to run a 2x ledger at the top and bottom running horizontally because the chance that your studs are spaced the same as the mounting holes are very low.

Regular tv. Get the cheapest one in the size that you need.

Every mount I've ever used had holes all along the mount so this is a non issue.
