I'm rooted, but still on stock rom and recovery.
Do you think the update failed because I'm rooted?

Yeah, that's a deal breaker. You can update pretty easily with Wug's, though...assuming you're still encrypted.

Just looked around a little bit, apparently you're right. I've always installed TWRP right away, so I can never use OTAs. Have you changed any system files?

I looked around and found a lot of people complaining about the 5.0.1 OTA failing though. I will probably just end up putting TWRP on it.

hit or miss. if you've changed *ANYTHING* at the system level (even installing the camera sound OFF app) the OTA will barf.
its gotta be a pure ROOTED OS without any tweaks to the system files or the OTA won't work.

I wasn't planning on getting the new N6 as I love my current one too much, and that is pretty much cemented now.
WTF did Google let Huawei do? This thing is ugly as frick.
Way too rectangular for my tastes in terms of the body, and that back, my god, who thought that was a good idea? That is beyond hideous.

For a second I thought I'd missed a 30+ page discussion of the new Nexus phones. That Huawei nexus looks turrible.

Ugh
I just wanted something that had as good or better camera than my 6 plus, faster, and great battery life
Might have to go with the Note 5.

Whoever approved that design needs to be stabbed in the base of skull with a bayonet.

Yeah I can handle samsung bloatware(they've toned it down a bit plus i can install vanilla android on it) if the cameras continue to be top of the line. Maybe it will surprise me though. I think they said the new note got 14 hours which is pretty solid
Also giving the iPhone 6S a chance if its really twice as fast on 4G and the camera is a big upgrade from the last one (one word....uh..how?). I'm not holding my breath.

We have seen plenty of leaked images of the highly anticipated LG Nexus, but hardware specifications have been much harder to come by. Until today that is, as a leaked hardware table from a prototype handset has shown up to give us a look at what might be powering the smartphone.

A lot of the table is a match for some of the very earliest rumors about the handset. There’s apparently a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC and 3GB of LPDDR3 memory forming the basis of the handset. The phone is also expected to feature a 13 megapixel IMX278 image sensor, along with optical image stabilization and LG’s laser auto-focus technology. The fingerprint scanner that was previous spotted in pictures is also listed.

I'm tempted at this point to just buy an unlocked Nexus 5 from Ebay.

The only problem is the protrusion of the rear camera lens. I absolutely HATE when phone manufacturers do this.
To me, the moto X pure has equal to better specs, can be customized, has a 5.7 inch screen on a 5.5 footprint, runs pure android stock, and is 399. I'm gonna wait till the nexus releases, but I'll prolly go moto X.
