Can y'all see my stuff ok?

The overlap is hilarious. Disney and Pixar and paw patrol rule our adult lives huh?

You're missing out if you don't get the whole studio Ghibli collection too.

Yea I poked around in your plex library some but didn’t want to stream anything to eat your bandwidth.

The overlap is funny. I’m still slowly growing but have you seen beaus library?

Has anyone tried to "Sync" from your laptop/computer to someone else's? It seems like a good way of (ahem) grabbing some movies from Person A to Person B.

thats only so they can watch them when off line. I do not think you can then transfer then to your hard drive. It similar to how netflix and amazon prime TV you can download to watch without a signal.

Yea, however, it's worked... at times. I definitely tried and dl'ed a particular movie from beau 2 weeks ago. Watched it and deleted it cause I didn't like it.
I haven't been able to duplicate that again though and it's not really worth it.

But yea, I thought it'd be a neat way to grab something between all of us here but doesn't seem reliable or even useable.

ETA: I've fallen out of love with Plex some as I have unlimited internet and YouTube TV. I kinda still just have it as a backup in case our internet goes down and we can just stream via the intranet but outside of that, it doesn't seem to solve a problem as I don't currently have any barriers like data caps or limited internet.

well you must not have or have access to a very expansive library. I have tons of stuff that you just cant watch on netflix, amazon, hulu, youtube. Granted i torrented it all. So thats why most people thik it is great. I have about 25 people on my server and most of it is for friends with kids, cause i have every disney and pixar and what ever else animation on there. and it is great for them to start it playing over and over.

One question I have with plex is this.

I have a bunch of different folders and i allow access to these folders only to certian people( like people i know who can play TrueHD 4k content, thanks Shield). But if i add this i have to go edit each users allowable folders list.

Is there a why i can allow/disallow uses in one screen for a certain folder?

So Beau or anyone who uses plex for TV Shows, where do you get so many? I see Beau has a ton of stuff and unsure how he got it all.
I'd really love for Plex to integrate with my YouTube TV subscription/app so I can scrape all of my content into 1 app (Plex).

Beau, if you're still around, where did you get all of your stuff?

ETA: For those of you that have Plex servers and live TV, how do you do your setup?

Either torrents or usenet. It's possible to set up your system so that shows just "show up" in your Plex library shortly after they air (or shortly after the digital/bluray release for movies).

Google SABnzbd, Sonarr, and Radarr to get you started.

@Korkstand - do you use the Plex Live DVR functionality for an OTA antenna? I'm debating buying an HDHomerun or hauppage TV tuner for this purpose.

I setup utorrent to do this and it's awesome. The only downside I've seen is most of the time the torrent that is downloaded are rar files and I have to remember to unrar it.

Another option, I have PlayOn, which is DVR software that uses the different TV Network apps to record TV shows. I just save them in a folder Plex has access to and new shows will show up automatically in Plex.

I was giving this a try but found that PlayOn only records in 720p. If they would allow recording in 1020p, I'd be all on board with PlayOn.

I'll also warn that PlayOn is far from set it and forget it even with a show you have a season pass for. Sometimes recordings don't work properly and sometimes the TV networks change the path where specific shows are found breaking your recordings. You have to regularly check and maintain it. But for the people not wanting to mess with torrents it's one of the few options available.
