I work from home and currently have a desktop and laptop. Files are stored on a network. Both computers are terribly slow and probably purchased around 2015.
I’m thinking instead of buying 2 new computers, I’ll just get a decent laptop that I can plug into my 2 monitors when I’m home and take with me when I travel.
Any recommendations on the best value? I only use Microsoft office, google earth, and occasionally run a very light CAD program. I have a networked Hp printer if that matters.
I don’t really know anything about computers these days Getting old.

I had a Lenovo Yoga in school and actually really enjoyed the laptop.
If you are wanting to run CAD and other demanding programs. I would make sure which ever laptop you get has 16+ Ram and at least an i7 processor with SSD. You should be good with having just those 3 specs.

New macs can support 8TB SSDs and 96 GB Ram. M2 processor is great for video editing. Still sucks for gaming though.

I love my Framework laptop. Best value.. depends on how you define value. For those that don't know, the appeal of Framework is that every component can be self repaired DIY. Not only that you can upgrade. People who bought two years with 11th gen Intel are already able to upgrade to 12th and 13th gen.
They just made a big announcement a couple weeks ago that they are now supporting AMD along with Intel. Also they announced a 16" laptop with upgradable gpu.

This is a pretty good/funny video about the recent announcement https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeCdBVHYa_8

I like my LG gram. I got it for the battery life and it is an easy to travel with 17" laptop. I7, SSD and it is good for anything I need to do. You can get them for $900-$1100.
