Trying to help a relative set up a home office...They are using a laptop connected to a big monitor...and they want a full keyboard and either mouse or trackpad. I haven't used a external keyboard in years.
I assume wireless is the way to go...How are Logitech keyboard/trackpads?

I have the Logitech with built in track pad. It's like a half size of a regular keyboard. Model is K something. Have had it for 4 years now and use it every day with no.problems ever

I would tell them to get an affordable mechanical keyboard. I like the Ducky Shine keyboards.
A good Logitech mouse will do fine.
I prefer both wired. I just prefer not worrying about charging and batteries.

Yeah I use the Logitech bigass keyboard, and one of their any service mouses at work. Older model I'm sure but get the uni-dongle deal so dontvhave to take up but one slot.
My desk set up has my laptop in front, one horizontal flat monitor just over the laptop screen, and I have another monitor veritically just to the left. My keyboard stands right above the laptop keyboard, so I can slide it back and forth to get it out if the way. I don't like the dainty apple one that came with my imac

What's the big advantage? I have both and see no difference in day to day use except in my wired ones I don't have to hassle about batteries or recharging.

Lack of a wires is a pretty huge advantage for cleanliness and mostly for better use of a mouse. Batteries on the devices are so good these days, I probably change my keyboard and mouse batteries once every few months

If you're looking for quality, never look past stuff made for gaming. It's not always expensive and it's pretty well made, especially the mice, they have the best sensors in them and a lot aren't very expensive. Look for brands like razor or logitech (gpro or g403 and the wireless one, g703).
As for keyboards, corsair is the way to go. I'd recommend mechanical.
If u need a mouse pad, steel series are the best, many different sizes and are really thin and light, it's like it's not there.
