I have an ipad issued from work, with its own ATT account, its own phone number associated with it.

I have my personal iphone. Totally different account, provider is Verizon, not issued by work.

I haven't really used my ipad much, I'm either on my phone or laptop. But recently I started letting my kid play with it, PBS Kids app.

To get the PBS kids app, I had to put in my apple ID even though the app is free.

From that point forward, every text message I get on my iphone will appear on this ipad.

WTF is going on? I have some friends that send me stupid shite via text, I don't want the shite popping up on the ipad while my kid is playing with it.

Explain this to me like I'm an ignorant genX'er that distrusts technology.

You put in your Apple ID, which then allows the iPad to send/receive iMessages, which is Apples messaging system linked to your Apple ID.

You even get a notification on your other devices that a new device has been synced to your Apple ID.

You can just turn off iMessages on this iPad.

"Why do I receive Apple services on all of my Apple devices when I sign into the same Apple ID on all of them?"

Hmm. The world may never know.

That’s exactly what OP was asking.

The fear is palpable.

A guy at work installed Chrome on his work computer and then gave Chrome his gmail credentials. All of a sudden p@rn starts appearing on his Chrome shortcuts. He got all flustered and turned off his computer. It was funny.

We've had several fired at work because of what sync'ed from their iPhones onto their work hard drives.
