Look through your DirecTV guide and count the infomercial channels. I did this the other day, I have the choice package and I ended up counting 49.
Doesn't matter. I get all the movie channels free for 3 months, Sunday ticket 2017 for free, 4 free boxes, and whole home dvr. On top of that, they gave me a $300 visa gift card. Finally, the lakers channel (spectrum sports net) isn't available on any streaming service.
Factoring in the gift card, the bundle I got was cheaper than going with internet plus a streaming service. And I get more channels by going with satellite.
I don't give a shite about the satellite on my roof. It looks just as trashy as all the neighbors satellites, and the huge ac unit that it sits near.

I was getting ready to cancel Cox and called them up. I had a very good deal with them which expires in a few days (12 month plan). 2 tuner Contour 2 DVR with mid range channels and HBO for $50 and he said he could extend the deal for another 12 months which I was not expecting.
Looks like I won't cut the cord after all and will cancel the Directv now $35 half off deal.
this is what time warner would always do for me, thus i stayed with them for 5+ years.
My last promo ran out in january, and since they were bought out by spectrum/charter, i was informed they no longer give out the most aggressive new customer deals to current subscribers, thus i ended up switching.
i understand that there are people in rural areas that dont have options, and streaming/cord cutting is the best deal. but for anyone in a mid to large market that can at least shop between 2 providers, i don't see these streaming services as a great value. in my area, a la carte internet runs between $45(on a new subscriber promo) to $60 per month. it's only $30 when bundled with tv.

Well for only $10 more I have a DVR and much better app login access along with much better archives.

to be fair they suddenly started adding app logins. NBC Universal channels seemed to just get support

exactly. getting streaming just to save $10/month isnt a great value when the overall experience and product is better by going with a complete package from a satellite or cable provider.

They recently ran fiber to my subdivision also and I'm out of contract and currently paying $145 for a middle of the road DTV package (this includes 8 TV's) and $90 for Cox 100 Mbps. What # did you call to get that deal? I've called both DTV and ATT and asked for a 1g fiber + DTV bundle, but no one seems to be able to quote a bundle with 1g, they try to sell me UVerse 45 mbps.

How recent did they lay the fiber? It took about 6 months for them to start offering fiber services after they laid it.
They laid it a little less than a year ago I would guess. I already have neighbors who have it.

I'm paying $114 a month for DTV's Xtra package on two TV's and $59.99 a month for Charter 60mbps.
I have to have the Xtra package so I can get the Gold Channel. I watch it a ton. I'm really considering doing the $44 a month Vue package that has the Golf Channel included.

I just signed up for what I think is a great deal with DTV. Here's what I got for $100 per month locked in for two years, not including the $25 discount I will receive for having the new ATT unlimited plan. The internet and phone are 1 year contract and dtv is 2 year contract.
DTV - 5TVs, Choice Package w/ Sunday Ticket
45 Mbps UVerse Internet
Home Phone
$350 in gift cards. I was told I without the phone ($9.99 per month), I qualified for $150 in rewards, but if I added the phone I would qualify for an additional $200 in rewards. I can cancel the phone after 1 year.
