MS Suite Alternatives

I'm sure this has been discussed in the past, but I couldn't find what I'm looking for when I searched.
I just got a used Dell laptop with WIN10, and wondering what is the best MS Suite alternative or is there a better OS to use as a whole?
I would like for it to be kept on my my HD, and not in a cloud. I have Libra Office on my MAC laptop, which seems to be ok, but it takes forever to open up. Not sure if that is just a MAC thing though. I would like to have a good Word/Excel/PP/Photos/etc alternative(s). One example of something I just noticed is I put a PDF file on my HD, but it only opens in the MS Edge browser. I would have to attach a link instead of a file to an email.
Also, what is the best Outlook alternative too? Especially one that I can hook up with Protonmail.
Heck if MS has a non-subscription/cloud version that I can still get, and that's the best, please let me know that too. I just can't stand all has to go on their cloud now ie, can't turn on auto-save w/o having the cloud set up. Would be cool if the alternatives have the simple auto-save feature too as Libra Office on my MAC doesn't.
Thanks.

My family uses Libre Office exclusively on all of our home machines, (wife and I dual boot Linux/Win10, only for some work requirements) but it works flawlessly and loads very fast on either OS (from nvme drives).

EM Client and Thunderbird are good alternatives to the Outlook desktop client.

The only correct answer here is Google Workspace. Starts at $6 per month. You can get your own custom domain too.

Thanks. I like Libra. Not much of a tech guy, so not sure what nvme drives are. Just hope this laptop has enough to where it's not to frustrating like on my mac.

I'll look into EM. I've come across Thunderbird. Key is getting Protonmail into it, so hope one of the 2 does without an issue.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Haven't used it in a while but Open Office was a pretty good and free MS Office alternative.

You lost me at Google. I'm definitely not a fan of it. I worked at a place that had the G-suite, and wasn't a fan at all. And also not a google fan, so try to get away from it as much as I can. Why I want things are not on the cloud, and kept on my computer.

Just the latest type of drives for PCs, much faster than older style hard drives. Nice if you have one and a lot of modern laptops now do have it at least as an option, but certainly not required nor very relevant here.

I have used Protonmail with Thunderbird and Evolution email clients. Both worked flawlessly with Protonmail. If you want an email client that is very similar to Outlook, go with Evolution.

Just curious. What do you not like about the MS Suite. I find them to be very affordable. $99/year for three (or more?) licenses, plus 1 TB of storage for each license.
They are fast and feature rich.

Yeah 1B of One Drive space really seals the deal on the value

It's actually 1 TB as stated in my original post. With 3 accounts, each with 1 TB, I'm able to back up my system to the cloud. Saves me money.

I happened to be looking at Windows 10 keys on ebay last night since I've heard people have had good luck with them.
I did see Office Pro Plus licenses for around $70. It appears to be separate from Office365.

I agree about the Office 365 + OneDrive subscription being worth it - of course if you're ok with cloud services. (OP stated he is not, so not necessarily suggesting it for him.)
I used basic DropBox for a few years and eventually wanted space more so paid for the upgrade at one point. A year later MS introduced their plan which gave me more storage for less money PLUS the Office suite. That was a no brainer. (Of course these plans are a moving target, I see the least expensive DB is still $10/month but now includes 2TB of data.)
