M$ Surface Studio
Specs:
1 TB Hybrid drive? If thats one of those useless 2.5" mechanical drives with an SSD cache instead of an actual SSD for the OS then M$ can really go get fricked. There is no place for a $3k+ machine without, at minimum, a SATA SSD for the OS.

It is a bad looking mofo but at 3k... nope. Like 3k can be a decent amount towards a downpayment to a new SUV I need. Not gonna drop that on a home computer.
I watched most of the Microsoft presser today and ALL of their stuff was targeted to everyone but me.
1) 3d crap with the new version of windows? Useless to me
2) New longer lasting more GPU powered SurfaceBook starting at like 2300$? Expensive as shite for a laptop and not targeted for me.
3) This new iMac competition looks awesome but starting at 3k? Fook that.

3G's for a desktop AIO?
Get fricked

It seems cool but who really would use this product?
-Designers
-Drawers
-People at Disney / Animation people
But outside of that, anyone?
ETA: I'm more inclined to buy this for my daughters but at 3k, foooookkkkkk no.

How can they target you? It sounds like you just want the basic laptop/desktop. They already have that, and they weren't releasing a new OS today....

This is exactly who its aimed at. M$ is also trying to mimic Apple in several ways, creating these "cool" products like this is just one of them.

Try $99

Well since it is open to developers, potentially anyone. It can already be used to scroll pages, change brightness
I mean it is a pretty damn innovative tool.
Seriously, what could they have offered that would have enticed you? They already have products for most of the business world and at affordable prices. They are trying to hit specific markets.
They are offering 5 input options. Mouse, Keyboard, Pen, Touch, and the Dial
As someone who marks up legal documents all day, I see it as possibly very useful for changing between tickmarks, documents, insert points, etc.

Understand that now. I was hopeful they'd have SurfaceBook 2s (they sorta did but only the absolute high end surface book). Or even have a cheaper version of this "MS iMac". Make a version in the 2k-2500$ price range.
And yes, I see now that the little magic dial thingy can be used on any device but odds are no one is gonna use that on a surfacebook, the dimensions are too small.
ETA: I know the Dial isn't 3k, I was referring to the new "MS iMac". Whatever they're calling it. The station or whatever.

It doesn't have to be used on the screen
The more form factors, the better imo. Not sure how else we're supposed to move forward from a hardware standpoint.

Apple shows a new $3000 Mac Pro desktop without a badass touch screen: Amazing! Apple has done it again! I can't believe the resurrected Steve Jobs!
Microsoft shows a new $3000 all-in-one PC with a badass touch screen: frick that! Looks like garbage. Why would I need that?!
Haters gonna hate.

Almost everyone is praising it. Apple just got a wake up call. It's definitely not mass market, but some amazing work went into this.

That's a great meme and all, but it doesn't reflect the attitude of this board at all.

That dial companion tool looks like one of the coolest tech devices I've ever seen. Some Tony Stark shite
Yea I'm not even sure how I'd use it, but I'm sure it's cool as frick. That looked like something out of Minority Report.

Now, if it just ran MacOS, they might be on to something.

You have to be joking. Apple is mocked mercilessly all the time for their overpriced computers.
Microsoft releases an overpriced IMac competitor, and it's "badass".
Some people see what they want to see.

It was hyperbole, especially the Apple dig, but there's some truth to it. I will agree about the SSD. It's 2016 and at a base price of $3k it should have one.
Then this computer is not for you. I think some people see this as an iMac competitor. It's not. It's a competitor to a Mac Pro with a cintiq, which is almost twice the price. In a previous life I was an urban designer, and this thing would have been perfect for our studio where hand drawing and digital graphics merge constantly. There was only so much you could do with a basic wacom, and things like the cintiq were overkill for our modest budget. $3k is obviously a much easer pill to swallow than $6k, not to mention all of our software licenses were for Windows (though I understand that's a little different these days with Adobe's licensing options).
I really look forward to watching this product line evolve and enter the home markets in a few years.
