wut? my 2013 macbook pro does both of these things (well, the battery has well over 1,000 cycles so I don't get 5 hours out of it anymore)

chromebooks get 10 hours and i GUARANTEE you a chromebook comes to life out of sleep 100x faster than any mac.

if the laptop has finished waking up by the time I have finished opening the lid, as is the case with my MacBook Pro from 4 years ago, then that counts as "instant." Who cares if it's any faster than that?
