I have been trying to look for a good deal on a 65" TV for the main living room. I know I want it to be 120 Hz refresh rate and would like 4K for future needs. Hoping to find a good one for around $1,000 but it appears as though I will be looking at more around $1,500.

Anyone bought a 65" lately for $1k?

Do I really need to go for 4K? Is there a savings there where I can get back down to $1,000?

If you're patient and shop the open boxes at Sam's you can get a heck of a deal. Just got a 65" for significantly less than $1,000. 4 K Ultra Hi Def.

It will probably be years before 4K content is mainstream. You can't even get a 1080p signal over the air or cable/satellite unless it's some special event or on demand.

I'd rather save the money and get a good 1080p tv than a low end 4K one. There are new things coming out like HDR, OLED, etc that is probably worth waiting for with 4K. Save the money for a good 4K tv in a few years.

If you do go 4K, make sure it supports HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2.

Renovating a new home. Have a living room with no TV since I moved the last set into the room above the garage. I may go this route. I thought Direct TV was carrying channels in 4K now. Am I wrong in this? If so, i may stick with a good 1080p

Any good 65" 2016 TV is going to be 4K HDR so if you buy a 1080P TV you are likely buying junk or something a year old. There is no reason to wait. If you want a good current model TV I would buy a UN65KS8000. It is by far the best bang for the buck in the market today.

I'm thinking wait until black Friday or Cyber Monday and you should be able to get a deal on Most TV's

I have heard the Black Friday deals are usually made for just that sale and are most of the time less in quality. Is there truth to that?

I won't be able to wait until Black Friday. Wish I could but I need a replacement now.

I have a pretty decent budget around 2k. Trying to figure which TV will be the best picture quality within my budget. Looks like it's between Sony Samsung, and LG.

i generally look at slickdeals.net for TV deals. Not sure how up to date that is these days, but it used to work very well for me.

I've watched football and tennis on it and haven't noticed a difference between "real" 120Hz and "effective" 120Hz of this TV. If it is a concern, you can step up to the $1497 7000-Series LINK

you can get an entry model 4k samsung 65 for a little over $1000 That has a 120hz refresh rate. its the 6300 model. If I am dropping the money on a tv and I am paying $1000 or more I would make sure it has HDR. You will pay more for it but it is worth it IMO

I agree. If you are buying a Samsung for the HDR I would strongly recommend a KS model over a KU. The KS models have a 10 bit panel which makes a huge difference with HDR content.
