Live abroad for a year+, how would you set up TV watching?

The plan is to keep my house in the US, but live in a few different countries in Europe for anywhere from 1-5 years. TV won't be my main concern at all, obviously, but just wondering what will be the best options to watch American TV. Especially sports. Mainly college football and NFL.
Should I look at a Fire stick or Roku, etc? Fire stick has a good deal going for $30 for 4k Max. I will also need to have a VPN I assume. Recommendations there? I saw something about Smart DNS? I am not all that techy for this type of stuff.
I have Prime, Netflix, and the Hulu/Disney/ESPN+ package. I likely will also keep HBO Max going as I have tenants on the property and include internet/cable for them.
Would really appreciate some ideas or real-life examples

I don’t know this for sure but I’d suspect the major streamers have figured out the VPN work around. Unfortunately, you probably need to find one of those hot IPTV services.

Get an AFN antenna or an IPTV SUB.

Cancel your services and get IPTV. I just set up IPTV after thinking about it for a long time, no clue why I waited so long.

I have lived in Berlin for almost 5 years now. Here's just a few of the things that I do.
1. ESPN Player - This works without VPN internationally. It let's you watch all sporting events on any ESPN related network. This includes replays and of course live events. It costs $13.99/month but generally works good.
2. Pluto TV - This is free. If you want the English programming then you have to VPN into the US. Then everything is in English. It's mostly old reruns, but a quick rundown of some things that I watch are a)Deal or no deal b) Jersey Shore reruns c) South Park d) The Honeymooners d) Swamp People. There is a lot more. It's also good if you are learning another language. You can VPN into that country and get that language. For example, I've used it to watch South Park in German and Spanish.
3. Netflix works without a VPN.
4. The Peacock app works with a VPN.
5. Disney+ works without a VPN.
6. I pay for the NBA Leauge Team Pass to watch the Pelicans.
Of course in a pinch, you can always find a stream for something. For me it's the plus 6-7 hour time difference that causes an issue.
If you have any questions, I will do my best to answer them based on my expeierences. Hope this helps.

Is that Armed Forces Network?
FOr IPTV, I assume a FireTv isn't the right player? Recommendations?

I have tenants here and don't want to mess around with illegal if I don't have to. In Europe, maybe it's not as big of a worry?

When you say Netflix without VPN, you mean for the country you're in though, right? So there will be some US shows that aren't going to be there? Thanks for the info on ESPN and the others. I will save this post and hopefully you'll see if I ping you down the line

ETA: how have you done on LSU football games over these last 5 years? And yes, I know the time difference is a big factor, so what's been your play?

I've watched LSU and Saints games on the ESPN and CBS Sports apps on my iPad in many countries. You can usually mirror your screen if the hotel has newer TVs.

Did you need a VPN to do that then? I won't be in hotels for years, will be renting an apartment outside of trips to other countries. Honestly, I can see not wanting to watch much TV at all, but I just want to be prepared to watch LSU and the Saints. And if the Pels stay healthy for once, them too

Thanks, glad to help. For Netflix, I don't use a VPN connection. I haven't noticed any real difference in selection options. I get suggested German movies sometimes because I guess I'm physically in Germany with a German IP. There hasn't been anything that I've wanted to watch that wasn't available though.
With the LSU games I would say I've done well. The most interesting was watching the Jan 2020 National Championship game. It started around 2:00am here. I posted online and got 4 other people from the US to come and watch it at a bar.
As for other games, I usually try and just stay up and watch the games. It's the only time I like the 11:00am central games because they start at 6pm here! I still would rather LSU play at night. I have a projector (which a lot of people do here) and stream it through the Apple TV and my Homepods. It works great. The biggest problem is when LSU is on CBS. Their app doesn't play as well internationaly so I have to find a stream the few times that happens.
The biggest factor in watching the games live for me is that if they lose, I won't watch the replay. It's the same for the Pelicans and Saints games.
All in all, it's not as hard as it would have been just 5-10 years ago. You can watch what you want, talk when you want, and write when you want with the internet.

That’s all I have used for probably 8 years now. You can watch anything. That an internet is all you need

I have a firestick tv (which is also jail broken).
No such thing as a Jail Broken FireTV. You simply go into settings and enable "allow third party apps" and that's it. The term Jail Broken is from IOS devices where you actually replaced the OS, a somewhat complicated thing to do.
