So edgy bro.

Plex has 20-30x the total userbase (if not more) than Emby and Jellyfin combined. Plexamp shits on both of them, Plex app is on any device and TV, and as bad as Live TV is with Plex, it's far better than Jellyfin.

If someone is starting out in the self-hosted media space, Plex Pass for this asinine amount is a no go, use Jellyfin instead. For those that have had the $50 lifetime Plex Pass for years, it's still universally the best option.

I setup some friends and family with some user accounts and they request movies/TV and I try to accommodate. I need to research emby.

Jellyfin is better than Emby, but the Emby app is available on a lot more devices.

If Plex ever scraps the lifetime plex pass, I'm moving to Jellyfin

Why would you not? It's very simple and runs great. Very easy to use.

Adding music to plex is a nightmare IMHO. Getting the stupid agent to recognize it is miserable for me.

I use lidarr to handle all of that

my lidarr is only connected to NGs, maybe torrents are better. The stuff i manually download i have to mess with musicbrainz for hours to get the right metadata. Very annoying.

do what?

I literally have tens of thousands of albums in Plex and the only problem I ever have is occasionally a multi record set will come in as separate and I have to select all 3 of them and say "combine".

It's literally about as easy as it can get.

No idea where you're getting these but from usenet it's a fricking nightmare. They put stupid ads and shite in the metadata that breaks plex. Also it has a tendency with multi artist tracks to combine them and their entire library. I hate it. Probably 2,000 albums, wish it would just go of the filename.

usenet

found the problem.

i have unused invites on the best music site around but unfortunately i can't send you one because the user-count is full. if they expand the total # of allowed users i'll ping you and send you an invite if you like.

eta every album is meticulously scrutinized and only 100% log created FLAC files are on there so what you get is the creme of the crop with proper metadata and no bullshite so plex has zero issue matching it and pulling artwork options, etc.

eta are you on IPT? if you are they have *some* music from time to time. not the ultimate collection but at least its not infested with usenet garbage.

And since CAD hooked me up with some credits on that site when I first joined, I can pass along some extra credits I have earned

CAD is a good egg.

eta look at that sexy ratio and those bonus points

I think i got an invite, i'll try to login and check it out. Yea usenet is trash, i'm spending way to long fixing all the metadata.

I usually stick with IPT for music first, but they definitely don't have the collection that Orpheus has.

I haven't downloaded a lot of music, but it's like 90% Orpheus vs 10% IPT

. I like that I can just dump videos in a folder and Plex properly fetches the metadata and poster. Has jellyfin made that easier yet?

Jellyfin does this automatically. Takes all day for a huge IPTV VOD library but it works.
