Tablo is pretty sick. Taking awhile to have the guide populate but really a huge part of cutting cable TV and with Tablo being able to record with a DVR.
Tablo app is built into the TV so its quick and easy to get to and be able to use the TV remote.
Cox is screwing me with internet though. I called and canceled TV and they said internet would go to 89.00 before tax but if I bundled local channels it would be 79.00.

I like really like my Tablo and thinks it's a huge player as well in the cord cutting game. It's got a few tweaks I'd like to see changed but there's always something you can complain about with any product.

I think the guide is worth paying $50 a year too, pretty slick.

Count me as a vote for Vue. Did 7 day trial for sling as well and Vue was definitely better IMO.
Have a leaf for local channels.

quote:False. I've had the guide on my FireTV since April of last year.
You will get the 'cable like' guide feature only on PS3/PS4.
quote:Tell him to send that shite back and order a FireTV for way cheaper. Interface is roughly the same.
My dad is also now on Vue after he figured how much money he could save by cutting the cord. He was using a Roku to stream Vue and hated the interface after seeing mine. He ordered a PS4 last night.

quote:That's a bunch of bullshite. Cox reps dance all around your questions and spit out numbers just to try to make you keep TV. The numbers they give you are absolutely not related to the actual amount you will pay.

I was as clear as I could possibly be when I called to drop to internet only. "Tell me how much I will pay after fees and taxes with internet only". She told me it would be $70ish. Then she gave me the same bullshite that it would actually be cheaper if I get basic cable, and she would waive the minibox fee so my bill would be $61 "after taxes and fees". Seems impossible to get more for less, right? You're right. My bill ended up being $80, so I cancelled Cox altogether. If they had been honest upfront, I probably would have stayed with them, but frick them for lying. Luckily I have a local ISP, and they told me my bill would be $65.95 AFTER taxes and fees, and I didn't even have to poke and prod to get that answer. They were straight up about it, and turns out that's exactly how much I pay every month.
Don't let Cox talk you into keeping TV. They absolutely will straight up lie to you about how much it costs and just hope you never notice. They try to hide all the fees that come along with TV that you won't get with just internet.
If you don't have any other options, just drop to internet-only with Cox.

I agree but it's either Cox or AT&T with 25mb max, no fiber yet. As soon as AT&T rolls out fiber to Jefferson Parish we will have more leverage.
If I drop to just internet is like 9 dollars more.
Just Cox Internet $89 before tax
Cox internet and local channels via a web browser no box is $79.99 before tax

My money is on straight up lie, and you will be paying much more than what you were told. They conveniently forget about the fees associated with TV.
Give it a shot, though. Worst that can happen is it costs more than expected for one month.

When I log into my account this is what it says, no reason to doubt it:

Must be an intro price which isn't bad.
How much longer do you have under this promo? If it's 12-24 months, no worries now but...

Expect that to be added to your bill after the promo ends.

They did not indicate this is temp price reduction as opposed to the last deal I got which was a 12 months.
Either way, hopefully within 12 months AT&T will have fiber, the lines are already run on the neighborhood, and I will have more leverage.
The TV bundle discount is web only, nothing to the TV. I doubt I will use it much.

I see $79.99 for the internet service, but before you said it would be $79.99 for internet + TV. You also said just internet would be $89, and I'm wondering where you got that information.
Also, you've shown here $81.99 as your total for "current services", but I don't see the taxes and fees. Are these the services you have right now? If so, can you check how much you are actually paying to Cox?

I did say that, but only if I did internet only and no bundled TV services was it $89.99
Maybe they have metrics to satisfy as far as the number of people on bundled services and are willing to discount it in order to satisfy those numbers.
Who knows but they charged me $20.99 for internet only TV and then credited it $20.99

I'm telling you, you (are not)/(will not) pay only $81.99 for the services listed. The fees are going to push it north of $90, possibly near $100.
quote:Yeah, that's what they do. But then you have to pay the full rate for all of the fees associated with TV service, which you haven't listed.

quote:I still don't see where you got this number. Their website says the Premier tier is $69.99 for 12 months and $87.99 after. The Ultimate tier promo price is $89.99 (and $99.99 after 12 months), but that's a faster service than you've listed here for $79.99. Do you know if the $89 includes the modem rental fee, or do you have your own? You should buy one if you haven't.

I was speaking to the retention department. Also, I have been using Cox for quite sometime and once they give me a price that I see on the next bill it has never gone up until the deal is up, 12 months etc.
I have 150mb down btw.
Last 12 months they gave me HBO, 210 channels and a DVR for $50 a month after discounts. The price for 12 months did not change until that deal expired last month.

Gotcha, think taxes etc put me at $87 from what I recall. Won't see breakout until a month from now but that is about what I expect.
Still think it's too high considering all the 1gb fiber deals I see from 90-110.

Well, just be aware that the retentions person gave you rates that compared the internet/TV bundle promo price vs. the internet-only full price after the promo expires, plus tacked on a couple bucks to it for good measure.
If you're happy with the price and service, then that's all that matters. I'm just here to tell you that I went through the same thing with Cox and their retentions department when I decided to drop TV, and I let them convince me that it would be cheaper if I bundle TV, and my bill ended up being 25% higher than I was told.
