Key lock box with tracking

Not sure which board is best for this so I'm starting here - looking for a lock box type device that requires someone to go through an app to open in order to allow for tracking of who took the key when. And if the key isn't returned, I'd know who the last one to take it was. Anyone know of something like that?

Something like a realtor lock Box?
The only thing I’d caution is that the cellular provider used by the box must have service where you’re going to put it. The box the realtor put on my last house couldn’t communicate with the server 1/3 of the time, and couldn’t unlock the box. I believe it was T-Mobile and in a suburban hood that was 10 years old.

Really doesn't even need to be that fancy. It will be at a business with company wifi that it could connect to if needed. We just have a hard time tracking this specific key once someone uses it and the main purpose is to find out who used the key last

Why not just an electronic door lock with a bunch of individual codes, which you give one to each person, and change or delete it whenever you want? Or is it a key to a padlock or similar?

LINK Probably overkill if you are just looking for tracking a single key.

Something from here may work. Not sure if you can allow multiple app users to access the safe but you can have multiple users and track access.

Might consider using a camera setup from inside the trailer. A basic hunting trailcam would work. Last person in the trailer is the last person to get the key. Change batteries and SD card every few months.

An Apple air tag on the keyring would at least let you know where the key is.

Get rid of the keyed lock & install a smart lock w a keypad

This is the way. We have a ton of keys at work, different masters for certain wings/floors of the building, then individual keys to certain rooms/offices, and then a very select few have a master for the whole building. We've gone to maglocks with swipe cards on certain doors, and card readers will also read from a phone app. A push button lock would be an easier fix than the lockbox. You can program them from an app these days, and reset passwords when employees come and go.

Unless you need the key kept secured, I would get these and a clipboard. And affix the key to the clipboard. Have people sign out the key when they cut it loose and sign it back in when they put the new tag back on.
Just run it through the eyehole:
