Previously, I used my iPhone 8 to take jpegs and download to my computers running on older Windows system with Photo Editor (pre Windows 10) and was able to enlarge these pics on the PC. A year ago I bought a new laptop and desktop with Windows 10 and can edit/crop/enlarge my iPhone 8 pics but cannot save the enlarged pics.

Im thinking I need to get a program that will do a better job of editing (enlarging) - it seems like Windows 10 is setup for $$subscriptions/buy the program.

Id prefer the older Windows that didn't nickle and dime for simple tasks.

Can anyone recommend a photo editor that would crop and enlarge jpegs - hopefully a free or inexpensive download?

Not sure exactly what you’re asking, but Win10 has native photo app to resize/crop/edit…

Um. MSPaint is still there and it will enlarge and crop jpegs easily. Costs nothing.

FastStone Image Viewer is very good. I take a lot of photographs and it's all I use. Crop, resize, sharpen, darkness, contrast, saturation, lots of functions.

ETA - it's free.

If you’re doing a lot of stuff, invest in Photoshop Elements 2022. About a hundred bucks but worth it.

Windows has its own image editing software, but if you want more you could download Paint.Net for free.

With that you just outline what you are wanting to keep then go to Image and click on Crop To My Selection. For resizing, Image then Resize.

I mostly use Fastone Image Viewer, but sometimes Irfanview. Fastone lets you manipulate images in countless ways, and is also a damn fine image viewer and organizer.

Both completely free without ads or nagware.
