Can’t decide between:
A. Getting a like new X on Craigslist for $750
B. Biting the bullet and getting an X max direct from Apple at retail price
C. Waiting til Black Friday to see what deals are available from carriers

ETA- I’m currently with sprint, no contract, paid off iPhone 7 which I’d want to trade in

How are the “other” carriers like Cricket, Boost, etc? I’m on sprint now because they had a great deal when I got our iPhone 7 models. Looking to switch and I’ll probably end up back at VW or AT&T but figured I would ask here first. I’ve got two more device payments and then I’ll be clear to switch.

Boost

Use to use for the wife maybe 5 years ago. Sub of AT&T and had no issues. I only did it for cost but these days I deal can always be had with the big ones.

Tmobile seems to have the best deals, currently have wife and child on $35 a month per, 6gb data

I don't understand people who purchase 1000.00 + dollar phones and put them on Sprint's network.

Is like buying a BMW and living in a trailer park.

Depends where you live. In my area of Los Angeles, sprint is just as good as Verizon. It works in my office, home, and on my way to work. I have 2 friends with att that get bad service in their area.

My understanding is that Verizon and att are vastly superior in rural areas.

but with the Apple upgrade Program, I figured I may as well upgrade.
Explain this to me. Do you pay for half your phone and then just turn it in?

Does it make financial sense to pay off the 2nd year and sell the phone?

Generally speaking, I think the people that are willing to shell out $1000 or more for a cell phone aren’t particularly worried about saving a few hundred extra by selling a phone privately on Craigslist rather than doing a simple trade in.

Once upon a time I’d for sure have gone the Craigslist route, as it would be more financially prudent. However, with a 3yr old and another kid on the way, I don’t have the time to screw around meeting with deadbeats from Craigslist. The convenience of a trade in program is worth the extra money.

Sam's Club is offering a $100 gift card if you pre-order and activate through them.
LINK

Costco(Verizon) is offering $700 off+ $30 Costco Cash if you purchase 2 iphone Xs or Xs Max over a 24-month period($29.16) with 1 new line of service. Verizon is offering the same discount but it doesn't have the $30 Costco Cash.

I went from Apple to a Pixel 2 and I'd probably switch back if I didnt like google Fi so much.

I ditched my old numver when i switched, too. Im kind of curious if my google Fi-issued number could be moved go another carrier without being detected as a google voice number, or if id have to get a new number then transfer my current number to google voice.

I got the apple leather folio case in black. Can't believe they don't have it in saddle brown. That's what I really wanted.

I just got a silk wallet case in the mail from amazon for my XS Max. The case is the same exact size as the iPhone 7 Plus.

I know the Max has an edge to edge screen but I was surprised. I thought it would be slightly bigger overall.

actually the Max is a little thicker, but width and length are slightly smaller.
