usually have kid or wife streaming on two tv's and me gaming ever so often. Would 60mbps support this without have lag and buffering? I dont really need 1080p or anything like that on the streaming.just inquirying ?

It's plenty. I've done it with 20 with no problem.

Ping rate and upload speed are important for gaming

This. Down speed is almost irrelevant for playing games.

I can do 5 4k HDR streams at same time with 50Mbps. I would think you should have no problems.

I have 13-14 download and have 2 xbone playing online, streaming Netflix on wife's phone, Netflix on my Roku, and internet browsing on my phone usually going on together most nights.
The kids say it lags every now and then but got the most part it works.
So yeah, I think you'd be fine

I think the rule of thumb is 10-15* Mbps per device to stream 4K video.
ETA: We have 80 Mbps here and hardly ever have any issues with the following over WiFi:
Smart TV (2)
Ipad/Tablet (2)
Phone (2)
Nest Thermostat (1)
Hard Wired:
Desktop Computer (generally stream while gaming)
XboxOne

I've always heard 15 (and I would rather over-estimate than under-estimate).
OP, 60 megs is more than enough for streaming on one device and gaming on another.

Ping rate

You saying ping rate doesn't matter?

Ping is basically a signal sent to a destination. The time it takes for it to return is measured and that is latency.
So I am assuming by ping rate you mean latency, maybe that is the funny thing???

Tracert is a better measure

Yes. Sending 5 icmp probes per second vs 1 per second, has nothing to do with streaming performance.

Well it has a lot to do with gaming performance and he did mention that also. Just saying.

Pretty sure jeff knows that ping times are what matter. I think he's laughing at the phrase "ping rate" because the rate at which you ping just means how many times per second you're sending out pings. The ping itself doesn't measure a rate, it measures latency. Bandwidth is a measure of rate.

Yes once you are streaming it really has no big issue. However, I specifically said gaming, not streaming.

Allow me to rephrase:
has nothing to do with streaming/online gaming performance

Good thing gamers aren't experts in networking.
