Need to get a new computer but don’t wanna spend. Don’t know much about them. 90% of use is for YouTube and tigerdroppings.

if not gaming, video editing, music editing, graphics work....

Get a cheap 3-400.00 buck machine. If you want a laptop.

I use a lot of graphics, and love speed. I usually get a I7 with a dedicated graphics card for 6-700.00

My last was a Toshiba and it has lasted 3 yrs without a problem thus far. My last was a Toshiba that lasted 5.

HP, Lenova, are good machines as well. JMHO

Is there a difference in internet speed? I don’t do any of the stuff you mentioned, but would get annoyed with a slow computer.

No, but you should look for one with a SSD. Solid state hard drive.

It may have less storage space than a traditional hard drive, but will boot and process applications faster.

I’ll never buy another windows laptop. We only use it 2-3 times a week and it has to update almost every time. I need to be able to use it when I need it not wait 30-45 minutes and then use it.

If you won't be doing any of that stuff, and you are worried about speed and price... Why not get a Chromebook?

Chromebooks are great, and very fast

Your two best options are a Chromebook or buying a refurbished laptop off Tigerdirect.com.

My daughter just bought a sub $300 Acer Chromebook and loves it.

I have bought three Windows laptops off Tigerdirect. Look for off-lease business models that have been refurbished. I would look for one that has 6 to 8 gigs of RAM and an I5 (or better) processor. My most recent purchase was $170.00 for the above specs. You can find HP models for $170 to $250 with the above specs and a 500gb to 1TB hard drive.

Most come with a one year warranty. I have never had any issues and we have had them for several years. The price is cheap enough for me that if I have an issue, I can just buy another one.

a laptop doesn't affect internet speed, but you want to look at CPU speed and RAM to get a computer that works fast enough for you. Most moderate or cheap computers come with about half the RAM they can use.

thats just proves you are an idiot. 1. windows updates dont come as often as you say they do. 2. if you really wanted to you could turn updates off or just turn it to manual

But no, you blame your stupidity on Windows. Go head and move to Apple, have fun wasting money on inferior tech.

a new sub $400 windows laptop is pretty much guaranteed to be a total piece of shite. if thats the budget, go chromebook or refursbished windows laptop.

Is it actually a windows update every time you use it?

If so something is wrong. I had the same issue for a couple of weeks until I realized it was just trying to download/install the same update over and over again.

I had to run an update wizard a couple of times but since then I haven't had the issue.

It's probably the Fall Maker's Update, and keeps failing out because he's not doing it right. If he would actually go to the update page and do the full update it would stop... but he probably doesn't want to do that.
