I ended up calling and confirmed I was eligible for the credit. I ordered it today. Thanks for the help! The reason I was confused is I still owed about $100 on my X and had to pay it 1st.

Did you have to add a new line or upgrade an existing one to qualify for the credit? Or did you simply just have to agree to trade in your X model?
That’s where I’m getting confused. Everything I’ve read so far makes it sound like for existing customers you have to upgrade a current line to unlimited (which we already have) or add a new line (we don’t need) as well as trade in old phone to qualify.

I already have an unlimited plan so I was good there, I still owed a little money on the phone so that was what was throwing me off.
So, here is how it works. At&t will give you a $26 credit every month for 30 months so you'll only end up paying about 10/month for the phone, assuming you get the Pro which I did.

Anyone know how long the $800 trade in credit with AT&T will be available? I’m pretty sure they check your credit and I’m in the proctor closing on a house so I can’t have any hits on my report until we close.

I asked the online chat person today, and they said there wasn’t an official date yet for when it expires. So who knows.

Since the pro max doesn’t come out until November and the credit applies to that phone as well I guess it’s safe to assume at least a couple more weeks.

Is check on this, I haven’t seen anything to suggest they check credit but I’ve been with At&T a long time. Doesn’t hurt to ask.

Yeah that would be my guess as well. At least through the month you’d think.

I've avoided being on the AT&T financial plans for several years now but my wife has the iPhone XR and wanted to upgrade. We only paid $700 for it and AT&T is offering $800 trade-in value on it so I guess we'll be locked in for 24 months. That is hard to pass on.
ETA
If ATT runs a credit check it's a soft one. I don't think they do.

I got tired of waiting and talked to my bank guy and he said it shouldn’t be an issue with my loan so I ordered the phones this morning. Already backed up and won’t ship until November 18th or later on both of them.

Took advantage of this offer. My 8+ has damage around the camera on the back. I’ll get it replaced for $150 so I make sure I get the $800 credit. That one crack is the only thing wrong with the phone. Guess this is the best move for me. I’d hate to trade it in with any noticeable damage, even small and get screwed on the trade in. Thoughts?

I still disagree with Apple’s decision not to include the wall brick with the iPhone 12. Simply for the fact that, unless you had an iPhone 11 (and most people don’t buy every single generation of iPhone), you probably don’t have the USB-C brick yet. Thus, most people will have to go buy one.

I think the old bricks will work just won’t charge as fast correct? It still comes with the lighting cable.

Old bricks at USB-A type, the new ones require USB-C connection. Complete crap from Apple. They should have at least included the brink on this go round of phones. Then phase them out next year. I have a X, but will be upgrading to the 12 Pro Max and I have that I have to buy another brick.

You can still use your old brick and lightning cable though correct?

So I had been holding out on getting a new phone until these new iPhones came out and my old one was already paid off. Well right before Delta hit my touch screen stopped working in my iPhone 8. I was able to borrow an unused phone until I get my new one but was bummed about losing the trade in value.
Well I got home today and plugged the old one in just to see what would happen and everything is working fine. I had tried every reset I could find to make it work but I guess draining the battery for a while did something for it.
I went from $50 trade in to $800!
I’m pretty pumped. Friday can’t get here fast enough.

I don't think that's right.
