Why with all the million updates has Apple not updated this?

If I’m playing music through iTunes, Spotify, etc, it will stop when I begin to record a video. I want the music in the video! So stupid. There should be an option to have it on/off

same thing happens on android.

all i have to do to solve this is after i started the video, open the music player and hit play. it just pauses it when you start recording video but you can easily pull down from the top and start it playing to have the phone music in your video.

honest question; would you rather the default behavior be to leave whatever music you have blaring when you start a video? i think this is by design.

No I’d be happy with the default as is, but give the option to play your phone music in the recording you’re attempting.

i'm not going to bash apple here (really ) because i don't know the answer but what happens if you start the video then switch over to the music player and hit 'play'? does it stop the recording? does the music play?

Why not just add the music in post? Shitty phone speaker music will sound like arse on a video.

Serious Clark? Not everyone wants to post edit a cute video of their kid singing along to some song you recorded in the car.

How about apple just let the music player play music if the person hits play while making a video.

Dumbest thing ever. Apple being a control freak again

Oh you mean those shitty videos that no one cares about and even you won't watch ever again. Oh ok. Makes sense now.

Just get your wife to record it while you play the music and you can post it on your joint facebook.

On Android it will keep playing if it is going through Bluetooth.

I thought my wife tried it and it worked the same way in her iphone

Record the video using Snapchat. It saves the music in the video.

It's by design and due to music royalties.

Oh, I understand it's a conscious decision, still sucks for the user.

I wonder how Android gets around the royalties...

It may work if you have any of the 11s, but I haven’t tested this yet:

Edit: it does work

Doesn’t work on my older work iphone

So I guess it isn't about royalties... Haha

Honestly though, this seems like the best solution. Gives you the easy option of doing either with or without music. I wonder why they don't give this feature to older iPhones as it should be all software

I’m not sure, audio keep playing may be unintended and gets patched later. This quick feature should be put on older phones, I’m kinda glad this thread came up cause now I know I can grab video or photos without changing from the photo tab.

this shouldn't be such a difficult ask.

if you're playing bluetooth music through your car and you want to capture something going on that your kid is doing you should be able to just like if you were listening to a CD or FM.

I think it’s more Apple protecting the music industry. Makes it a slight bit harder to film copyrighted material that is playing directly from your device. I mean you said Google even forces it to stop and you have to go back and turn it back on. Think that is on purpose too.
