any network admins want to make sure that the ios 8 update does NOT destroy your network?
block mesu.apple.com or block the entire 17.0.0.0/255.0.0.0 network

That's the size of the update. But it requires 4.6 of free space to complete

Doing it via iTunes... At first it didn't pop up, kept trying for 10 min and it kept telling me 7 was the most up to date. Finally got it to say 8 was available. 45m download time.

Mine is in process now. At the "Preparing Update..." phase. Has already been downloaded so I'm assuming it'll go dark very soon and do all of the rebooting etc.

Thats why I did it via iTunes and not wifi... Sounds like that is the correct amount needed.

It has rebooted and I have the apple logo with the bar at the bottom slowly turning white. I started at exactly 12 noon so it's been close to 40 mins. I'm sure the servers are bogged down so if you do it later yall may have much better times. I'm doing it over wifi if that matters...

mines available, but i'm about to be on a web demonstration and my 5 YO is watching Hook on netflix. couldn't bring myself to suck away his bandwidth at the present moment.
