I spend a good but of time on my tractor or using loud power tools (chainsaw, etc) to where the vibrate feature is useless.

My idea is to link a standalone light (hardwired via headphone jack, or via Bluetooth if I can) so that when my cell phone rings the light flashes. I've seen this for landlines but not for cell phones and not for portable applications.

Before I go down homemade path (my own design or Arduino, Beagleboard and the like), anyone know of a device that comes close to what I'm describing?

Buy a mount for your tractor. Place phone in mount with back facing you. Enable "hearing handicap feature" which cause the light on your phone to flash on incoming call, WIN!

Useless if you are running power equipment. I barely notice mine when cutting grass, and definitely don't when running a weedeater or chainsaw.

If you have an iPhone you're probably SOL unless something already exist because Apple only wants you to be able to do things with your device that they explicitly deem OK.

Google “Bluetooth cellphone alerts for the hearing impaired”, there are many options to choose from

You looked to see if there's anything developed for the hearing impaired.

Followed EA6B's suggestion and came up with this. Close to what I want but probably not suitable for outdoor use.

Thanks to all for your input. Should have mentioned in OP that I still have a Windows phone (I know). Don't care for Apple products, so my move to Android is inevitable since Microsoft phones are moving that way.

Guess it's time to pull out the breadboard and get to work.
