Hulu vs Youtube for streaming?

I have DirectTV streaming right now. No NBC and now no FOX, so I am switching this week. Want to be set before football starts. I've done some comparing, and for what my family watches, I am between Hulu and Youtube tv. For what I want, its looking like Hulu, with the Sports and unlimited streaming packages. That would be about $90 a month. Youtube for similar would be $93. With the identical add ons, Hulu just gives me more of the channels that we watch. The only issues I have is, with youtube you can get 4K, with Hulu its mostly HD with some things in 4K, or at least that what I understand. Wanted to see if anyone else has had experience with either or both and their Pros and Cons to each.

Same for YouTubeTV. Limited 4K Content.
I prefer YouTubeTV because I HATE the Hulu Interface.
YouTubeTV has a 4-way split screen they recently added, BUT they don't let you pick what you want to see on each Screen just yet.
All that said, if Hulu has more of what your family watches then start there.
Good news is you can do free trials of each.

if you travel much, YTTV will let you take a streaming device like a Roku, Fire TV stick, etc. away from home and use it. You can also share YTTV with someone else easily.
Hulu will only let you use it on your phone when away from home.

The thing that tipped the scales towards Hulu for me when looking was Hulu came with ESPN+ and Disney+. We already were paying seperately for Disney+, so I was able to cancel that since it was now included with Hulu.
Here is a good site for comparison. LINK

The nice thing about Hulu is espn+ integrated into the guide. So you can watch espn+ on Hulu instead of going to shite espn app. Obviously assuming you have ESPN+.
I prefer YouTube tv but it is a nice feature for football and golf.

I do pay for the ESPN+ subscription so that could be a savings, but i may would keep it so i could work around only streaming on 2 devices simultaneously. I could stream one or more TVs through the ESPN app and not count against my screens at home..

You dont need an ESPN+ independent subscription to do that.

Also, any work around to steaming on mobile device only when away from home?

You can login to the ESPN app using your Hulu subscription credentials.

Believe I’m stuck on not being able to stream away from home except on a mobile device though..

That would be a no-go for me too. I share my YTTV with family so I need to be able to use streaming devices outside my home.

That’s why I think I’m not going with Hulu. We have a 2nd home/camp and we would only be able to steam on a device there. With YTTV we could watch in our smart tv’s. I know you can’t watch live locals but you can watch recorded. So if LSU let’s say is playing on CBS, I’d have to start watching the recording after a little while. I think I’m understanding all this!

Is that because the locals will be for wherever your original connection is? Would a VPN allow someone to switch their locals? I wouldn't mind being able to switch to NOLA so I can watch the Saints and such, but I still want to watch local HI channels, so I wonder if I could utilize a VPN to do both?

I find the YouTube guide isn’t as easy to use as Hulu.

Hulu vs Youtube for streaming?
Hulu is strictly IP address in order to verify locals. Problem with that is down at deer camp I have Starlink and my IP address pings in Dallas. I don't want Dallas locals...I want my Little Rock market locals.
With YTTV, I verify locals through my phone with location services.
With all of that said.....I really like YTTV and have nothing negative to say abouut it.

You still get locals when away from home. You just get the locals that are local to that area.

Seriously, why does anyone care about local stations? We have weather apps, sports apps, you can bookmark KATV.com, etc. Are people super into high school sports or something? I wouldn't recognize a single news anchor from Houston if I met them on the street. Now, Aileen Hnatiuk, I would recognize.

In this case, I think the concern is that if there are no locals then they can't watch football games on CBS, Fox, NBC, ABC, etc.
