I have a new internet service provider that does not provide unlimited data streaming. I can stream up to 1 terabyte monthly without penalty....but I really have no intuition as to how much that is. I generally only want to stream sporting events that are not on TV. Roughly, how many baseball games should equal 1 terabyte?

If that's your monthly cap and all you consume you're fine, by a mile and it's not even close.

Roughly 1GB per hour, so 1000 hrs.

I thought it’s around 3-4GB per hour for 1080?

I have a family of 6 and we struggle to stay under that cap every damn month.

I have to go in and hit "set a default movie quality to shite" in Netflix every other month it seems like to limp to the end without overage charges.

If you're single you'll likely be fine.

Eta I've gotten smarter and realized if my kid is, say, watching zootopia 75x a month to just download the damn thing and put it on Plex. That helps quite a bit.

Your kid isn’t watching zootopia. More like fricktopia if you are going outside your terabyte each month. Jesus Christ that’s a lot of data.

We've had the cap for about 6 months now and have gone over once during FB season. We are usually around 750 GB. My wife likes the background noise and will leave YouTube TV playing in the background

It’s really not for a family 6 using it. Especially if you’re someone who streams live sports along with the usual tv shows/movies and YouTube

I agree. We have a family of 4.

We go a little over every month. But we have Directv now and stream everything on Netflix it DNow or Disney channel app.

If by "sporting events" you mean porn, an hour-long "sporting event" will run you 2GB or so for an hour of high-definition "sports". So about 500 hours.

Not when both Netflix and YouTube default to 4K when you're not paying attention.

You sling around a few good 4K rips and you'll find out very quickly how fast you burn through 1TB.

I have a friend who would burn through it the first week of every month because he does alot of work with video as a hobby. He finally had to switch to unlimited because of it. He's already passed 4TB this month already.

Totally agree on how fast in the future/Now 1 tb will be blown thru with all the high def things such as 4k etc... If At&T fiber ever drops that unlimited Data monthly plan then i'm screwed. I pay 90 a month for it but with 4 streams going at anytime in my house it is nice to know that i dont have to police everyone. I imagine if i measured our usuage we would easily be pushing 2tb's or more.

I always love the people who show up in these threads and are like Jesus Christ that's the most data ever in the world!! Omgz only fat trolls living in a basement on their computer 24/7 would use a fraction of this!!

They're exactly who Comcast has drinking there koolaid

We don't have any tv service but do have 3 computers and 2 laptops and 4 tablets along with 4 phones.

I bumped the cap easily the first few months after I got the kids their computers. Youtube defaulting to highest setting was killing me. Now, they're defaulted to 480 because honestly they don't know the difference. I also switched off autoplay on all our accounts. The caps are crap because they're only in areas where they don't have fiber competition. Hopefully fiber will move more rapidly.

regular HD is usually 3GB-5GB an hour

4K can be 10+

Burning through a TB isn't hard at all
