HDMI 2.1 Question

I will be purchasing an Xbox Series X soon. I currently have a Samsung QN90b television. The location of the television has a HDMI cable running behind the wall to the entertainment center location. I don’t believe that this is a high speed HDMI cable. I tried pulling a new cable however, it gets caught up somewhere behind the wall.
I say all of this to ask if there’s a 2.1 converter that can be plugged in to one side of the existing cable and I can plug a new 2.1 cable into from the Xbox. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The issue with the cable is bandwidth. I assume the one in the wall is certified to 18 Gb/s (4k @ 60hz) or even 10.2 GB/s and you need 4k @ 120hz which needs a 48 Gb/s capable HDMI cable. There is no adaptor that will fix this the cable has its inherent bandwidth capacity and you can't change that. A rough analogy would be if you had 14ga wire in the wall that could carry 15A and you needed to pass 40 amps through the cable it wouldn't work. Though the results of the HDMI mismatch will only be your signal won't get to the TV, in the other you might very well have a house fire.
That being said HDMI cables are a fickle lot. It is completely possible but not likely your old cable will pass 4K @ 120hz. It is also possible to buy a cable that says it is 48 Gb/s compliant and it not pass 4K @ 120hz, you find this especially with no-name cheapos.
Have you looked around YT for videos on snaking cables? There are a lot of tips and tricks that make the seemingly impossible possible.

Won't work. Have you tried lubricant? Make sure you test the new cable first.

I appreciate the info. Before I go through trying to get this new cable in, is it a noticeable difference assuming the new cable does put out the required performance.

I can't answer this. I know my PS5 uses 2.1 but I haven't compared without it.

The problem is there is no way of knowing what will happen with your old cable. Even if it was only sold as a 18Gb cable it may pass much higher data rates. I will say the longer the cable the less likely it is to work above its rating. The only thing you can do is try it and see if you get transmission of a 4k 120hz signal. It will either work or not. As I said in the earlier post HDMI cables are remarkably finicky some work above their rating and some don't meet their rating.
If you are looking for a solid 48Gb cable and want value I have had very good luck with these Monoprice cables:
Monoprice
They are currently out of 6' ones but the 8' ones are on sale for $5.99.

Tape them solidly tip to tip, have someone wiggle the other side while you wiggle yours and push/pull. It should find the same hole.
A lot of times the hole, especially if fire block, is only cut to fit the head of that cable. And additional, or a side to side tape job won’t fit
If that doesn’t work tie a pull string to the old cable and remove it, then use string to try to get new cable through
Ive tested 4k at 120 on xbox x and a pc setup with this Cable at 50ft. There are 32 and 16ft options as well

Come on, even you have to laugh at that.
Fish tape blows, but your description was funny.

Despite the hilarity of this description, this is the way. Just make sure the tape isn’t going to come loose. I would probably also tie a string around the end of the existing cable (right above the tape) so that you can pull it back if the tape comes loose.
