You forgot phones by:

Sony
Panasonic
Motorola
LG
Kyocera
HTC
Asus
Vertu

All of those companies have released phones with Qi charging.
I got my info from here: LINK

Sorry if that was incorrect.

Are you seriously counting the plus and C as different models here? Remember when you said "you know what I meant"?? FFS, Cad.

yep, considering they were designed separately and fabricated differently, yep.

It lists the others but not with built-in capabilities. Isn't that what we're talking about? Others require an adapter. Which is something the iPhone has been capable of already.

Cables are basically pure profit, plus they collect licensing fees on third party Lightning cables and accessories. The real sin for the new iPhones is raising the price and building in wireless and fast charging, yet providing no accessories in the box to take advantage of them.

Yeah it's hard for me to wrap my head around charging $1,000 for a phone and not including all cables/charging pads in the box.

No. You mean "well, now I am!"

Fine.

ETA: I also suppose when you said "android devices adopted qi 3-4 phone models ago" you mean all the 50 or so galaxy devices released since the Galaxy 6?

If qi started in 2008, then it's logical to use the model that was starting production in 2008. That's pretty straight forward. I even gave you a couple years. The first phone was released in 2012 that could use it: iphone 5.
What?!
quote:

So there were 5 models that "could" have had it that didn't. Better?
Yeah, that's better.
quote:

all I'm trying to see is that it wasn't something apple missed from the very beginning which was implied by cad (who was using 8 because of iphone8).
And all I'm saying is 8 was an understatement, since Qi has been around since 2008. That's 9 iPhone generations if we're counting. But you call that hyperbole. And yeah, maybe we could use a more "sensible" earliest date of 2012 since two very large companies put out models that year, and I would go with this and call it 5 years/models late.

Then you just pull an arbitrary number of "3 models" out of your arse, and accuse everyone else of exaggerating.
quote:

They're 2 years later than Samsung.
Samsung's S4 had Qi charging, and it came out 4 years ago.

I'm starting to think you spent a couple years in a coma, or you are firmly in the grips of Apple's reality distortion field.

I don't recall anyone claiming samsung was "late to the party" just 2 years ago...

With an adapter. The s5 had to have a special back/receiver as well. 6 was the first built in.

That does not at all address the sentence you quoted.

So is this all about Samsung now? Fine, Samsung was late to the party with "true" Qi charging, and they STILL beat Apple by 2 years.

Happy?

Yes. I've said that. Twice. I can say it again if it makes you happy. Apple was late to implement wireless charging.

Is consider it but being with Verizon I can't get a one plus so I'll upgrade to an 8 when my 6s dies.

Never was unhappy.

We've all agreed on this point the whole time, it's just a question of exaggeration, and who is doing it in which direction.

And let's not pretend Qi is compatible with some huge range of phones.

Been with iPhone since the 3G back in 2008 when I was in high school. Have an iPhone 7 but I really want an iPhone X, so I'm getting one.

ve been on Iphone for about 6 years. I recently had to replace a broken 6 and decided to go with the google pixel...gave it 2 full weeks and couldn't get used to it. Returned it and swapped for an Iphone 7 and couldn't be happier. I'm iphone institutionalized.

This was me.

I had had an iPhone since the 4.

Decided to go with the Note7.

LOVED the feel of the phone and the screen looked amazing. But I’m too used to Apple and couldn’t stand the keyboard. Made all kinds of typing mistakes. And literally everyone in my family/friends network has iPhones.

So I ended up with major buyers remorse and majorly missing my iPhone. Then luckily the massive recall took place and I was able to get the 7. Phone is really good. But think I wanna upgrade to the X next.
