I have struggled with this for years...through multiple iphones, multiple cables, multiple usb ports, multiple PCs/laptops, multiple transfer apps....all fail...PC inconsistent on when it can even recognize the iphone, then when it does and you start a transfer, it fails EVERY.SINGLE.TIME

Easiest way would be to load all your photos into Google photos app. Then open that on your pc

I haven’t tried in a while but I could always access the files via a windows File Explorer so long as the phone was unlocked.

Your Phone built into Windows 10 is really nice, if Apple ever decides to "allow" it. All wireless.

The most loathesome part of Apple is the need to use iTunes for anything.

Once you get through the initial upload, it's pretty nice.

Hmm. I only use Macs and Linux at home, but I will try it at work when I get a chance. I could have sworn this still worked. On a mac I use AirDrop or google cloud to get data over from my iPhone.

If for some reason you can't use Google Drive or iCloud, You may have to use the file transfer feature in iTunes.

I'm an Apple person and even I avoid iTunes and native Apple file sync'ing like the plague.

How will we back up our phones without iTunes?

For Windows it’s on life support as Apple posted a job listing in mid November that probably includes overhauling windows offerings to be in line with Mac versions.
https://www.macrumors.com/2019/11/19/apple-next-generation-media-apps-windows/

You think that would have already started this process before mid November, but maybe they made a change to support Universal Windows Platform when updating the windows apps and needed new people.

quote:

In macOS Catalina, Apple eliminated the iTunes app and replaced it with new Music, Podcasts, and TV apps, but similar changes were not made to Apple's iTunes for Windows app. Windows 10 users currently need to access services like Apple TV+ and Apple Music on the web, which is not ideal.
Apple's existing iTunes and iCloud apps are quite old and could benefit from being overhauled. The job listing suggests Apple may be aiming to introduce Windows apps that are similar to what's offered on Mac.

quote:

The job listing says that experience with UWP is a "big plus," with UWP standing for Universal Windows Platform. With UWP support, Apple could create apps that would work on Xbox One and various Windows 10 platforms.

I have to upload photos from my iPhone for work on occasion. Never really had a problem. Just make sure your phone is unlocked. I’m using a a work computer with restrictions so not sure what your problem may be. Windows 10 and up to date iOS, did it as recently as a month ago

I saw this thread when you posted and thought it was a user error but I was mistaken. We’ve had quite a few calls over the last few weeks about this... I tried to copy a video and it keeps failing. WTF Apple?!?
