Has anyone with YouTube TV activated ESPN Unlimited yet?

YouTube TV has been added to the menu queue for ESPN Unlimited even though they haven’t yet made the official announcement that it’s live, they still might be integrating it. But I tried following the steps and activating it yesterday and it didn’t come on for me yet

Steps on your iPhone are: Open the YoutubeTV app > Click your account icon in the top right > Settings > Sports > Toggle Connect ESPN on. Click Connect on the popup and it will ask you to login to ESPN with your ESPN account (you'll have to sign up for one if you don't have it), then you can opt to connect your fantasy sports data (if you do that and want that in the Youtube TV UI) and then click Connect (I think, I can't remember but it's whatever is at the bottom). Then when you login to the ESPN app with your ESPN account info, you will have ESPN unlimited.
It went live on Monday and seems to be working for me. I think there are plans to integrate all of the content into YTTV interface but that hasn’t happened yet and you have to use ESPN app for now.

Can I ditch the ESPN + membership after doing this? I'm assumming the ESPN app will work like it did before, but instead of using an ESPN subscription, its linked to the YoutubeTV account?

Yes but you won’t have MLB.TV under YTTV as part of ESPN unlimited. The YTTV carriage agreement was signed before ESPN added MLB to the unlimited pkg. Other than that, everything is same from what I can tell.

I did it for my kids to watch summer slam, took quite a bit of steps that seemed like an endless loop at one point but it worked.

Yes, per Gemini AI: Yes, you can cancel your standalone ESPN Select (formerly ESPN+) subscription once your YouTube TV account is connected. Because your YouTube TV base plan provides access to ESPN's direct-to-consumer features/ESPN Unlimited, keeping a standalone ESPN Select subscription active would result in paying twice for overlapping content.
I cancelled ESPN+, now known as ESPN Select, once (I think) I successfully paired ESPN and YouTubeTV. It was on annual, so I won't know for sure if all is well until the November renewal date passes.

This is all so confusing! I have a bundle agreement with Disney+ that includes Hulu and ESPN+.
Is the ESPN membership in Disney just redundant to the one in YouTube TV?

Maybe I'm dumb, can someone explain why I care about ESPN Unlimited with YouTubeTV?
Isn't the point of Unlimited to get the main streams you wouldn't get without a provider?

I think one of the advantages is if you watch a lot of sports and you want to jump between a game on a linear channel like ESPN, SEC Network, ESPN U, Fox Sports 1, etc and a streaming channel like something on ESPN+ or SECN+, you can now do that all within the youtube tv app vs. having to jump between the youtube tv app and the standalone ESPN app.

I have followed the steps, put in the activation code. Screen tells me I all set, When I got to espn it tells me that I need to get access, but I'm almost there. Talked to rep at espn or yttv (don't remember which) and they had me do the same steps I had done several times. After being put on hold twice, I was then told I would have access to unlimited on yttv by fall.

Mostly. If you watch a lot of baseball, you do not have access to MLB Live via YTTV as Disney added that to ESPN Unlimited after the carriage agreement was signed with YTTV late last year. Everything else is the same though.
Not sure why you’d have Hulu and YTTV though. It’s an either or for me.

Seems to be working for me. You have to enable it in YoutubeTV settings, and then do the login process in the ESPN app.

That's what I am paying but I still had to subscribe to ESPN to watch something this summer. I will play around with it this weekend when I have some time.

I don’t think YTTV/ESPN rolled out access to ESPN Unlimited until very late July/early August before WWE Summer Slam event for access for YTTV users. I’m still using ESPN app as of now but supposedly they will integrate all of the content available via ESPN Unlimited into YTTV app minus MLB Live. We’ll see…

It’s the Hulu tv library, not the live tv service
