I love it, no headphone jack and a very high priced XL. Where are all the complainers at?

I mean its still the cheapest of the 3 flagships.

Also, I don't use headphones much, but what's the big deal of no jack?
That port is decades old, it takes up too much space in today's phones for the amount of functionality it provides, and it's hard to make dust- and waterproof. It's time to retire it.

It comes with a aux adapter. It supports hi-def USB-C headphones as well.
You have options. If you want your aux port, you can have it.

Yep, he said it in the presentation.

quote:Here's a question (and I forget the technical terms), but the Nexus 5X featured changed/impaired functionality via the USB C interface. e.g. You could no longer plug it into a car and have shite play on the sound system - it no longer allowed info to be conveyed that way. Is that true of the Pixel and now the Pixel 2 as well?

I haven't heard about anything changing from that. Most cars are either using straight bluetooth, or paired with android auto to where you don't need that usb connection.
Edit: I think you're talking about the 6p?

That decades old port is still universally used and nowhere close to being obsolete. I'm sure the charging port is just as hard to make dust and waterproof as a headphone jack so why did they keep that?

quote:So? Many old techs have been replaced while they were still universally used. This is a time of transition. There are adapters to help people through it.

quote:You're going to have to give me your definition of "obsolete", because it seems like you think that as long as something still works, it's not obsolete.
nowhere close to being obsolete
There is newer tech that replaces the functionality of the port entirely, in addition to providing many, many other functions, in a smaller package. How is that not obsolete?
quote:Because until wireless charging and data transmission are comparable to wired as far as speed and reliability, phones need at least one port. Would you prefer to seal one port or two? Why make a breach twice as likely?
