Google is rolling out new changes to its storage plans that include a new, low-cost storage plan and half off the price of its 2TB storage option, the company announced today. It’s also converting all Google Drive paid storage plans to Google One, perhaps in part because you’ll now have one-tap access to Google’s live customer service.
Google One will get a new $2.99 a month option that gets you 200GB of storage. The 2TB plan, which usually costs $19.99 per month, will now cost $9.99 a month. Finally, the 1TB plan that costs $9.99 a month is getting removed. The other plans for 10, 20, or 30TB won’t see any changes.
Google will also make the plan shareable within a family of up to five members, and give users access to live chat support even if you’re on the cheapest plan of $1.99 a month for 100GB. It’s the first time live support is coming to Google for users who may not have a G Suite business account.

When you sign up for iCloud, you automatically get 5GB of free storage. If you need more space in iCloud, you can upgrade to a larger storage plan.
You can upgrade your iCloud storage plan from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC. Choose from a total of 50GB, 200GB, or 2TB. You can even share the 200GB and 2TB plans with your family. After you upgrade, we'll bill you monthly.1 See the monthly pricing and plans per country or region below.
If you purchased a 1TB monthly plan before June 5, 2017, your account was upgraded automatically to a 2TB monthly plan.
United States5 (USD)
50GB: $0.99
200GB: $2.99
2TB: $9.99

I've always found it ridiculous that they only offer 5 GB free.

Even more ridiculous that all your devices have to share 5GB. They should at least give you 5GB per device on the free tier.

It was ridiculous before they lowered prices a few years ago. Paying $1 a month for enough storage to back up your phone is a reasonable price. Hopefully this move by Google pushes everyone else to bump their storage too to keep up with the ever bigger photo and video files people are backing up.

You realize Google is MATCHING what Apple's current price is for 300 GB and 2TB?

cherry picking. apple offers unlimited hi-res photo, HD video storage and 50,000 of your personal mp3s for free?

Not to mention Google's free cloud tier is 15 gigs as opposed to apple's 5. Sorry but apple cloud is clearly inferior. No one should try to argue otherwise.

I get unlimited free full res photo and video on my Google Pixel. Don't think it covers mp3 though.

You can add up to 50,000 songs to Google Play Music from your personal music collection using Google Play Music for Chrome or Music Manager (up to 300MB per song). Once you've added your music, you can listen to it through the Google Play Music app and on your computer.
Music purchased from the Google Play Store doesn't count towards your song limit.
