Google Chrome sucking arse

Hello Tech Board,
For reasons beyond my understanding, it appears that Google Chrome has finally engineered so much bloat and bullshite into their browser that it's almost unusable.
Task Manager seems to show about 11 chrome processes running at all times.. Some in "efficiency mode" which is grayed out in my task manager options.
What are y'all using these days? I don't know what happened to this once great product but it's sucking now. What are my options?
What's your browser du jour?

pretty much all browsers are that way now but I use Brave. Seems less bloated than chrome.

Firefox and Safari are the only two major browsers left that aren't built on Chromium, and yes, that includes Brave. I moved back to Firefox from Chrome a few years ago and haven't looked back.

Brave and Firefox on PC
Safari and Firefox on Mac
uBlock origin on all I can and some type of thing on Apple that I don't remember but it cuts the ads out.
Apparently these blockers also cut out a number of things I'd like to see as well, but I just move on and forego whatever it is I can't get to that is blocked. Things like article I want to read but have to disable the blockers to read them.

Downloading Brave now.
Chrome - you had a good run. Been with you since the great Microsoft Explorer began to fall out of favor.
You were supposed to destroy the sith - not join them.

That's part of Chromium's Multi-process Architecture. Brave does it too because Brave is built on Chromium.

Firefox with uBlock Origin does the same thing, possibly slightly better. And not on Chromium.

That isn't needed on Brave. It has native blocker that works on everything. You can even use the same lists as uBlock origin.

The biggest issue with Firefox is they are not a pro free speech/privacy company. They believe in controlling what users can and cannot post/say/see/etc. They are willing to work with governments like China to suppress the spread of certain information they dont like.

Appreciated. My point was that it's like three clicks to add on Firefox, and then you have a superior security suite (with more options to tweak) and are running a non-Chromium browser.
I wasn't knocking Brave's built in security; I was simply pointing out that it's not particularly important when something equivalent or better can be added to other browsers so easily.

I assume this is referencing Mozilla filing amicus in opposition to states passing laws telling private companies how they can and can't moderate their own platforms?

Citation?

No, it is from their public stance where they say censorship isn't enough and want things deplatformed: LINK

Just google it. They block installation of ad-blockers in China among many other things. They work closely with the Chinese government to control internet information over there.

i have to use both Edge and Chrome for work purposes and i use uBlock with both.
they have their pros and cons, but i've found brave allows more things through like twitter embeds in TD and images posted in the MEMEs thread. i've played around with uBlock but can't get it to do the same thing.

Reveal who is paying for advertisements, how much they are paying and who is being targeted. Commit to meaningful transparency of platform algorithms so we know how and what content is being amplified, to whom, and the associated impact. Turn on by default the tools to amplify factual voices over disinformation. Work with independent researchers to facilitate in-depth studies of the platforms’ impact on people and our societies, and what we can do to improve things.
Some of those things I agree with; some of them I don't. But not using Firefox because Baker said something stupid is the equivalent of not buying a Tesla because Elon said something stupid. Actually, the former makes even less sense because using Firefox is free.

I'm getting utterly inundated by news articles about every tech company under the sun bowing to China in some capacity. Just find your favorite link and share it here, just like you did with the first issue.

As a point of clarification, you're saying uBlock is frequently blocking TD content for you, when you don't want it to?

correct, and i've fooled around w/ the 'disable scripts' and the 'picker' that lets you zap parts of the page itself.

That's... odd. I've used uBlock on Firefox for years and don't think I've ever seen a single bit of content on TD, other than ads obviously, get blocked. And I don't recall ever needing to tweak it to get it that way. Have you tried just uninstalling/reinstalling or resetting it to default?
I'm genuinely a bit floored as to how that's happening

Actually, you said you use them "for work purposes". Do you mean "at work"? If so, it's more likely an issue with your work firewall than it is an issue with uBlock.
