How do you know these come out?

You sure that isn't the native app. I have two calendars but one is HTC Calendar but just says Calendar

yea it added another app to my phone. I just had the native LG Calendar app before. I kinda knew it going in that it was gonna be an additional app.

So you have 3 calendar apps?
Posted on 11/5/14 at 3:22 pm to Hu_Flung_Pu
quote:Yeah, the stock calendar on most phones isn't Google Calendar. Mine wasn't uninstallable, so I just disabled the stock Cal and use Google Calendar.

They both use my calendars stored on Google, though.

I don't see a new calendar.. Google play says 403 is latest and it's installed already.

That's what I was saying. You have a native LG calendar and Gmail if you didn't already have Gmail it made one.

Here's a little history for peeps:
In versions' past, Android has included email, calendar, browser, etc. as system applications. The phone manufacturers would then make changes to those system apps prior to including them in the OS image. So, Samsung, LG, Motorola, HTC would all have slightly different versions of these apps.
Google is now rolling these apps out as standalone apps that can be installed individually and thru the app store. Therefore, if you aren't on a Nexus device, you probably have a calendar app. But, not the Google Calendar app. Same goes with the Camera app.
You can't uninstall these different system apps (nonGoogle) via conventional means. If you're rooted, you can freeze them in Titanium backup, or even uninstall/delete them from the /system/priv-app/ folder.
For example, I used ES Root Explorer to uninstall the system app Calendar from my Moto X, then I installed Google Calendar. I now only have Google Calendar on my phone.
