I found a thread on fb talking about southpoint. It seems that half of the neighborhood is flooded. Specifically the falcon crest side is flooded. The fb group is called Louisiana Flood Rescue - August 2016.
I'm interested to know this too...my brother lives there. We last heard from him last night. House was still dry but they had no way out of the neighborhood. Would love if anyone has any updates. Haven't heard from them all day.
as an IT professional that started out in baton rouge but now lives in raleigh...there isnt a company in br that could afford me

Currently got 20 of these suckers at the office. windows 8 is totally new to me, so is there a simple way to lock down all these apps especially game and crap so my users cant access them? Computers are in a domain if that matters. I just need them accessing the main screen with microsoft office and our company home drive.

Are you responsible for managing these things? If so, you should already know the answer...

Anyway, you can use Group Policy to block the Store. Additionally, you can block Microsoft Accounts. Most Apps from the store require a MS account to use.

Could also be the problem, and the same solution..I was burning through modems (3 over the last year..One of theirs, two of mine)..When they finally came to my house, the signals were off the charts and a splitter was put in to tone it down...Now, I get a fairly stable 100-103 down

FYI, I had this problem as well. I had to put a splitter on my line to lower the power level. With my modem, you can check the levels by going to LINK Your modem may have something similar.

re: Charter Internet Coax Cable?

It's been a while since I shopped coax, but at one point there used to be RG59 and RG6. The RG6 is thicker and RG59 would not work as well (if at all). So, if you have the choice, you should get RG6... again, I'm not sure if RG59 is even still a thing.
wife and I use OneNote. I'm on android and she's on iOS.
I have a playbar, sub and one play1. I currently have the play1 in another room just for music there. One day I'll get a second play1 to have surround. I love the sonos stuff. It's expensive, but I like not having wires. If you get the playbar, you definitely need the sub to go with it.

I don't know your answer about the turntable... Does this help? Or maybe this?

yeah i am..but i am having them send a signal booster thinking i couldnt use the router and now that i can..i need to send the signal booster back

If they're not charging you for the cell booster, you should keep it. I have an ATT cell booster that they sent me for free. It basically connects to my home network and I get full bars at home. My calls technically go thru my home internet connection. I got it because I was tired of not having service at my house.

Anyway, I still use google hangouts/voice when I work from home and need to join conference calls. Been a google voice customer since before google bought it and it was called grandcentral.

Are you worried about calling them, or them calling you? Do you have a Google Voice number? Hangouts Dialer lets you use the app to call using your GV #. So if you are calling your parents, your GV # would show up on their caller ID. If you are worried about them calling you, maybe look into forwarding your T-Mobile number if unanswered to your GV #.

This. I was in the middle of nowhere IL for work a few months ago with zero cell coverage on TMobile. GV and hangouts dialer worked like a charm over WiFi. The other users don't need hangouts.

This and this... CAD Surprised you don't already know about Google Voice with Hangouts since you seem to be a big pusher of google docs and sheets.... thought you were all about the google.

Thats the other thing I'm having to give up..my beloved RMERLIN router firmware. I'm hoping I don't lose too many of the features I've been enjoying when going to the TMO router. I don't see a clean way to flash it. Looks like TMO has it fairly well locked down.

I've always installed DD-WRT or Tomato... but honestly, I'm not sure if it ever really helped or improved things... I just preferred the interface. In reality all I ever did with my router was open some ports and use DHCP reservations... you can do that with standard firmware these days. I don't typically need any of the advanced features. Now that I'm running a pfsense box, I want to revert my router to the stock firmware, but I'm afraid...

Yes. This is what you should do. You already have a nice router. If you need the ethernet ports on it, just buy a cheap gigabit switch to replace it. Then you can throw the router somewhere in the open, provided you can get power and ethernet to it.

This is my ultimate plan. I have a box running pfsense, so that is my router/firewall/dhcp server. So, my setup is currently cable modem ethernet to pfsense box, ethernet to my router which is now in AP only mode (connected to LAN port instead of WAN... although I run DD-WRT on it and use that to make the WAN port a LAN port).

Ultimately, I will buy a gigabit switch and then move the router to somewhere more centrally located to have better wifi coverage in my house.

wear made me ditch textra for hangouts. the integration is too nice not to. i like how you can see the pics someone is sending you on your watch with hangouts..you cant do that with textra.

notifications and GPS are the killer apps right now

What other integration does hangouts offer?

If hangouts adds a quick reply feature, I'll switch back. To me, I'd rather have quick reply than having a picture on the watch. I don't want to open the app to send a quick reply text.

I wish TD had PMs. Maybe we should start/revive an android wear thread.

I'll be interested to see how you like the watch a month from now. Takes a bit of time to get used to wear.

I've had it for about a week... I feel used to it. I'm really only using it as a watch and for notifications. I can't exactly talk to it at work.

CAD, the PRO version has 5GHz whereas the non-PRO does not. There is a PRO with AC 5GHz as well that is a little bit more.

Off Topic: CAD, I got myself an Asus zenwatch and I LOVE this thing...

Finally, someone wants one. Email?
I'm paying 49.99 for 30/5. They increased my price without warning one month and I complained and got another year at that price. I suspect I will get a speed increase for free shortly due to Google Fiber coming to the area.
