Also posted on the Home/Garden board, but also looking for some insight here.

First, I'm not looking to permanently install a TV on the front porch or back patio. I just want the ability to be able to put one on Saturday's in the fall when the weather cools for college football.

I've got Comcast and a spare TV...I just don't know how/the best way to do it with cable. Any ideas? Can it even be done?

ETA: Maybe even a projector would work, and I'm not opposed to purchasing one. How would the sound work, though?

If you've got comcast it's as simple as this.
1). Haul the TV out to the patio.
2). Plug it in.
3). Buy a chromecast or firestick.
4). Plug chromecast or firestick into unused HDMI port.
5). Use comcast's streaming feature to watch live TV over the web.

No cables needed.

If you TV is a smart TV you might not even need the chromecast or firestick.

big planter pot. quick-Crete. Wood or metal post set in concrete. Tv bracket. removable smart Tv.

If you get a round pot it should be able to roll or you could move with a dolly.

I guess I'd still have to have an extension cord? There are no electrical outlets on the patio or front porch.

I helped a buddy do this for LSU games. He has a brick exterior under his back porch. He bought a flat wall mount off amazon for about $20. We drilled some pilot holes in the brick and used the included mounting screws to install it. We ran a coax cable from his TV box through the attic to right above the box and dropped it down to the TV. Luckily, he had a power outlet right below the TV(why we picked that spot). So he would just carry the TV out of the back bedroom and hook it onto the wall mount, screw in the TV cable and plug it in. Boom, spots all day while we swam in the pool and BBQ, UFC fights at night. You could also put an outlet box in the roof above the tv if needed in the wood. It is all fairly easy with infinite help online for every step. Good luck man.

I put my pool house TV on a bare bones cart and roll it out on game day. I have DTv Genie mini as well.

Yep, you are stuck with an extension cord. It can be a pain but once you settle in on your best location, you’ll get used to it and not think about it much.

Could see how much electrician would cost to add an outlet, but seems like you have solid way forward with info in this topic

13 years ago, we had an outdoor kitchen added to the house. I wanted a TV out there but didn't want to spend the $$$$ to put in an "outdoor" TV since it would be fully covered under the roof of the house, but exposed to the outdoors 24/7/365. I went to WM and bought the cheapest 55" they had, a dynex brand. 13 years later that TV is still going strong.

You don't have anybody that knows a little electrical? You can buy a roll of 25ft 14gauge 2wire and an outlet box to put in an outlet outside.

Do the cart idea the other guy posted. Have a dedicated extension cord that you can roll up and keep stowed on the same cart as the TV. Keep it in the garage or shed.

Go search for DIY Outdoor TV <= look at the images.

This is what I do. I have a 65” tv on a rolling tv mount I bought on Amazon. I cover it with a grill cover and roll in the corner of my patio when not in use, and center it when in use. It’s a Roku TV so it streams all my subscribed apps.

I did the same thing to watch stuff outside during football, Thanksgiving, etc. Wheel it into the garage when done.

Two suggestions: Get a cheap soundbar (I mean under $100). TV sound sucks outside. Also, get HDMI port covers for all the connections on the TV if it's going to stay in a humid place. The only time I've had to trash an outdoor TV (not rated for outdoors) was because the HDMI ports corroded.

If you think there will be ANY wifi connectivity issues, just buy a 50 or 100' Cat5 cable from Monoprice *just in case.*

I put a tv in my walk in safe room. I’m so busy being in my safe counting my dollars and gold/silver bars that I couldn’t function in my safe without having the ability to watch FOX News all day
