Thanks to TD I hopped on the Georgia one in the second half. Then it got crappy and kicked me out, with a message that said something about unable to load. I don't mind a little buffering now and then, as it usually freezes for a couple of seconds then gets back to it. But last night it would freeze, and then come back a minute later in the game. In addition to kicking me out. But of course those commercial breaks worked just fine.

I'm on a 100 Mbps connection Ethernet connection & still get some buffering. I notice that it seems to occur on the more popular events. Others on the app are flawless. Makes me think they just can't push the bandwidth on the bigger audience draws...?

Has to be. It has happened too many times not to be part of it. First I remember was the Rose Bowl in 2014 in the first year of the playoffs. It was so bad trying to stream that I went back over to watch it on cable with my Dad, and stuck around for the Sugar Bowl.
Also, and this was discussed on another forum, but several of us were talking about Saban's comments that a week is too short of a turnaround. That year, NYD was on a Thursday, and the Championship game was played on Monday, January 12th. In 2015, the playoff semifinals were on NYE, a Thursday, and championship game played on Monday, January 11th. 2016 was played on NYE, a Saturday, and Championship on Monday, January 9th.
Seems like they could have something in place to move this out to a Thursday or Friday night if NYD falls on a Monday, like this year, or like next year when it falls on a Tuesday. At least next season when the championship game is on January 7th, the semis are on a Saturday, the 29th of Dec.

Does the ESPN channel on any of these streaming packages(Hulu, DirectNow, Vue, Sling, etc.) buffer really badly as well? Or is it just the WatchESPN app? Might be worth signing up for one of the free trials with one of those services if it's just limited to the WatchESPN app. If you're relying on streaming to watch Monday night's game.

I renewed my sling account to watch the sugar bowl. Barely any buffering. It is espns app that is so bad.

That's what I was thinking, just app related. My DirecTV box has started acting wonky so I'll have one of those free trials on standby should it decide to crap the bed. Been thinking about cutting the cord for a while now anyway.

Honestly, I'm strongly considering going back to DirecTV. Some of the deals I've been seeing are great. I had them at a previous house, and had UVerse and Charter at this house over the years. I mainly cut the cord several years back because I was frustrated with the Uverse internet. Their all in one modem/router wasn't very strong, and my phones would disconnect from WiFi, and cause me data overages because my better half didn't realize this and would use up our data.
Now that most cell carriers are offering unlimited plans again, and AT&T has fiber in my neighborhood, going with a fiber connection for that and satellite for just two TVs is starting to make sense. At least for the live sports aspect. I could probably spend less overall if I drop sling again and just keep Netflix. Plus having Disney Jr and Nick Jr on the TV without my kids having to go into an app to get them would be nice. Especially when my fire stick freezes up because any app ever put out by Disney/ESPN stinks.

It has to be an ESPN issue. I have AT&T internet 50 and DirecTV Now and the games Monday were unwatchable it was buffering so badly. I switched over to the ESPN App on my Roku and it was much better. During the Alabama/Clemson game, it only buffered 3-4 times and only for a few seconds.
BTW, I don't have buffering with ANY other channel on DirecTV Now.
