Disconnecting Old ADT Alarm System

Just bought a house with an old ADT alarm system. It has 2 key pads, 1 in the bedroom and 1 in the main entry way. There is a main box in the master closet. The key pad in the bedroom randomly makes weird, buzzing noises and I just want to disable the whole thing. Don't really know where to get started on this. Anyone have experience?

Unplug power cable going to box. Open box remove battery.

I assume the pads get low voltage power from the main box. Try to turn off power there. If you can't get that to work see if it is on it's own breaker and flip the switch there.

Call another alarm company and get a new system. They reuse a lot of the old cables and such.
I wouldn't live in BR or NO for a second without a burglar alarm. You folks that can do that have bigger balls then me.

Had to go up in the attic and trace the wires. The main power source was fricking plugged into an outlet on the garage ceiling.

You probably have to disconnect the battery in the panel too

The previous owner must've done everything except unplug the main power source. They disconnected the battery, phone line and even cut the wires to the siren in the attic. They probably never found the main power source.

You can probably get a small local security company to come in reactivate and update it for cheap with a small monthly fee and no contract.
ADT is expensive.

anyone know how to cancel the monitoring with ADT, but still get the alarm to actual work and chime when doors open and what not?
