My parents need a pc that is primarily used for emails, word documents and surfing the web. I am not to familiar with desktops and am looking for any advice. They really only want to spend around $600.00. Thanks for any suggestions.

I use a HP all in one touch screen, does anything I want including streaming media. There's less hardware to install, less clutter, and combine with a wireless mouse and keyboard and it will be a clean install for them. About $400 if you shop around. (btw I'm 67)

Thanks. I know Costco has an hp touch but it didn’t have a lot of reviews. Parents are both in late 80’s.

Can probably find a Dell i5 with 8GB Ram for that amount. Dell direct, Best Buy, etc. I'd try to find an i7 with 16GB, which would probably be about $200+ more. It has been a while since I've bought, so I can't say for sure about current prices, but I think so.

There’s no reason you need an i7 or 16 GB of ram for these needs. If you can afford it and want it, go for it. But it’s overkill.

I wonder if his opinion for how to drive a nail into a sheet of plywood involves a 9lb hammer.
