Looking for a rear/front set up.
To those running one...
What kind?
Price?
Video quality (esp. @ night)?
Can you share a video sample or picture?

Wifi connection is a must for me now. So easy to pull up the video on phone vs having to mess with the sd card.

VIOFO A129 Dual 2-Channel Full HD 1080P 30FPS | 2CH Car Dash Cam with GPS Logger
This is what I bought last year on Amazon. I spent about $170. The range is pretty far a wide as there are many cheaper options as well as many options that are more expensive. I don't recall why I picked this model, but I didn't a lot of comparisons from the reddit threads. It has good quality recordings with a lot of settings that I can configure. To get recordings, I can either remove the microsd card and transfer files or I can connect my phone to the 'wifi' of the dashcam and download files this way (kinda slow, but works). I also wanted a camera that has a park mode bc I wanted to be able to catch someone if they backed into my truck.

I bought that one a couple years ago. Very easy to download the videos via wifi, also comes with a microSD card. Luckily, I haven't had to use it yet but it is a very cheap insurance policy for wrecks or theft. The video quality on this during the day is amazing. Can easily read license plates in front of me.

I have the exact same one and agree completely. I have 93k miles on my 2017 tundra that will be three years old next week. I've used it a few times for different things.
I have a buddy that owns an electrical company with service trucks and one morning one of his guys pulled onto the interstate while it was wet in front of a rig and the rig got squirrely trying to avoid him. Sent the video via text and they had a BeNO meeting the next day.
Saw a wreck in front of me that a guy ran a stop sign in traffic because someone waved him on. Showed the trooper what happened and he asked me to send him the video.
My FIL sometimes acts funny, dancing when we're leaving his house so we compiled a few of the videos with music and put them on the TV at his house during Christmas and everyone got a kick out of it.

I have a Blackvue dual cam 1080p with a 32 GB SD card. I like it a lot. Mounted in front of my rearview mirror so I can't even see it. it was what /r/idiotsincars recommended.

It definitely pushed me to get a dashcam.
I've seen some crazy shite that I really wish I had video of. In the past year I've seen a kidnapping right in front of me and another time a guy on a motorcycle pull out a big arse knife and throw it at the car in front of me. Over the past 5 or so years I've seen a few major accidents, including one car flipping down I-10 and barely missing me as well as a rogue tire bouncing over the dividing wall on the interstate and destroying the hood of my truck. So I got the dash cam for Christmas. I'll probably never see anything crazy again.

Bought my wife the NexBase 522 model. Amazingly stable video and good quality even at night. Has WiFi and bt. You can stream the video in real time to your phone.

Let's hope that's the case.

I’ve been wanting a dash cam and after reading this thread and doing my own additional research, I just purchased a Garmin Dash Cam 66W.
Anyone have a good place locally in BR area for installation of this dash cam and hardwiring radar detector? I just don’t see myself doing this — at least professionally looking. Estimated cost to expect?

Do y’all just leave it mounted all the time or do you remove it when you park?

I got my son a 360 cam from Costco for Christmas since he was planning a cross country trip.
It was like $120

Leave it mounted. Most have a setting to record when something jostles the car.
