Which dash cams have the best battery life? I don’t want to hardwire one and I would like the battery to last at least a few hours a day between recharges.

Just hardwire it. It only takes like 45 minutes even if you have absolutely no clue what you are doing.
None of them are going to have great battery life. For one, it is a video camera. You're going to want at least 1080 resolution and it will use a fair amount of power. Second, it is going to sit in the direct sun regularly which is horrible for battery life. Third, you are gonna be sick of dealing with charging one week into doing it. Why not use the existing giant battery that recharges when you run the car?

Yes you do. Do it right the first time. Using a battery-based camera with the hot Louisiana sun beating on it constantly isn't going to be a good time.

OWL cam. Plugs into your OBD2 port with an adaptor. No hardwiring.

I’ve been thinking about getting the Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 and then the Dongar Technologies Dash Cam Power Adapter so I can tap into the power that goes to my rear view mirror.

Budget, I'm thinking about viofo a129 dual paired with a dongartech dongle but I might end up getting a blackvue or thinkware and hardwiring to the battery.

I have this exact setup. Easy and no wires to route.

I have a Rexing V1P pro that I have had in my truck since 2019 and it is still working great. The previous dashcams I had would only last for about a year and would get messed up by the heat during the summer.
