pretty clever thinking...

Many stores like CVS use locked cabinets for items that are often shoplifted, cutting down on retail theft. Locking items up, though, inconveniences shoppers because an employee has to be summoned to retrieve items for customers. CVS Health's chief technology officer Tilak Mandadi told The Wall Street Journal that people "really, really dislike locked cabinets," which is why the chain is testing a new procedure.

According to the Journal, “app users need to be logged in, on the local store Wi-Fi, and with their device’s Bluetooth enabled to activate the feature.” You’ve also got to be a member of the CVS loyalty program
I don't want to have to sign up for a damned app and a loyalty program just to buy some razors or whiskey. I'll get them somewhere else.

Same. If a retail business makes me use an app to get standard items or prices, I’d rather order online or go elsewhere. I’m looking at you, Kroger. Also, how many people actually put up with places locking their products up? I’ve only noticed that at Home Depot, so I go 1/2 mile farther to Lowe’s now. Our CVS stores don’t do that here.

Yeah. I should have been clearer about that.

Wrong. Most of these shoppers stole iPhones or bought them with money from stolen goods.
