They're also pretty similar in size except for the obvious distinction of square/round.
You should measure your current thermostat and see how big it is. There is a decent chance you are going to have to touch up the areas around your thermostat with the Honeywell thermostat but i'd say there is about a 100% chance you will have to do this with the Nest.

No question about it. No one ever takes the thermostat off the wall to paint behind it. The Nest does come with a plate if you want to hide this area you would have to touch up.
I for one like the Next look over the others. Someone always comments on the shiny disk thingy on the wall.

I have the honeywell and i had to not only paint but spackle and sand some screw holes. It's not a big deal i just wanted him to be aware of it.
I love going to houses and seeing people with smart thermostats and missing paint from the old thermostat they replaced.

i was going to purchase the ecobee, but ended up with a nest as the los angeles DWP recently had a program where they gave them away (and installed) for free. they installed a rectangular wall plate to cover up where the old thermostat was. at times it does feel like there is a 2 or 3 degree variance in temperature as opposed to my old honeywell that would keep the home heated or cooled within a much stricter margin. im still very satisfied with the nest, as i love the idea of being able to control the system from my bed at 2am when i dont feel like getting up, or if we are out of the house.

Looks like the Nest comes with a trim plate.
My house is brand new too so I doubt the wall behind the thermostat is unpainted.

Can you not adjust the deadband?

Sensi is cheaper and delivers the same utility.

Cheaper or more affordable?

the honeywell is also much more affordable.

Any complaints or compliments for each ones phone app?

i dont have any complaints about the honeywell. I have no experience with the nest but Im sure it works well.

Nest app is easy and quick to use. It also gives you the weather at your home location in the background.

Sensi make a comparable product and lower price. My guess is the consumer doesn't have to pay for Nest style marketing.

is sensei compatible with any smart hubs? I don't see it listed in SmartThings.

No idea. Their iphone app is better for thermostat than Nest IMO. I do use Nest for video and fire/CO alarm.

So ecobee lite offers the same functionality as the nest?
It doesn't have geofencing, but does everything else.
Geofencing kinda sucks to be honest.
The standard and the lite both come with wall plates to hide the old holes and issues.

not according to tigerwise who has never ever ever ever had a smigden of a problem with it.

I also agree with tigerwise. It's not perfect but very reliable. 3 people leave my house each day for work or school and then return. That's 30 times a work week not counting practice and games. So realistically 50 times a week. It might miss someone leaving or arriving every 3rd week.

We just had a new 5 ton Trane installed with all new ductwork, zone control with electronic dampers, several other things, and 2 nest thermostats.
I live in Houston where electric is deregulated so its cheap. Our bill last month for 2 story 2,450 sq ft home was $35 and our highest bill was $129. That was when we had an 8 SEER unit, now we have a 14 SEER unit, so we'll see what the savings will be. I dont anticipate the nest to save us much except if we go away for a weekend and forget to adjust thermostat, now we can control it on our phone.
The nests dont read exactly the correct temp. I like them so far, but they are a huge selling point for realtors on homes.
