I replaced an older ring doorbell with a Eufy 1080 wired doorbell. It said that I may need a transformer with higher voltage so i replaced it with what it suggested. I could never got any response a light, sound anything. I called customer support and they said i should be getting SOME response so they sent me a new one, and I have the exact same issues. I figured maybe I messed up because I removed my old original doorbell chime and just tied the wires together, but I hook my original ring doorbell back and it instantly powers back up.

Am I just missing something entirely here? I've used a voltage detector and it goes off and it powers the ring, so it's CLEARLY geting power.

Which method are you using to power the doorbell?

I at first tried the first method,

but then currently the second, however, where my chimes come out are two sets of wires, so two red and two white wires. I've tried twisting all 4 wires together, I've also tried twisting white to white and red to red, same results

Did the Ring work again after you did this? I'm no pro but I think you could have blown your transformer by doing this.

Personally, I'd try wiring directly into the transformer with a new short set of wires. Just to test that the doorbell does indeed work.

You might have a problem with the wiring. Are you powering multiple chimes? Multiple doorbells? Which transformer did you buy?

Yes the ring worked after this. no issues whatsoever with it.

That may be a good idea, I can try that. I'm really confused how it's not getting any feedback at all. It's just one doorbell, and there was just one chime, however it's been removed now.

and I bought this transformer:

Yeah do as Ricardo suggested. I think the specs say 16-24v, but your wiring might have too much resistance and your 16v drops too low before getting to the doorbell. You could pick up a cheap little multimeter and check the voltage at the doorbell if you want.

No, I never did, I just ended up returning it, life got in the way and I didn't have any more time to fool with it and the return window was coming up.

I do appreciate the help!

Higher voltage or higher current capacity? Because it's almost always an issue with current supply vs voltage with these things.

Yes, should have used a DVOM to measure voltage and current draw at the device.
