The power flickers once every day or week at my house, and shuts everything off. Clocks need to be reset. DirecTV has to download again. Computer resets. I'm worried it's gonna frick something up, and it's a huge PITA resetting all of the clocks.

Short of getting a UPS for every single thing in my house, do I have any options?

I'm also looking at getting a new UPS for my computer. Eaton gets good reviews from tech guys. My computer's power supply is 750w. They make one that is good for 600w, and one that is good for 900w. Price difference is $70. Which one do yall think I should go for? Should I also be looking at APC and Cyberpower (they are similar prices)?

I run cyber power at all my stores. No issues. I usually get the 900w.

This will probably do the trick.

I looked at the PFC version of that one as well last night. My computer cost me like $2300 to build, so I want to make sure I protect it properly and don't have to worry about replacing the UPS every couple of years

Didn't read all that, but do your neighbors have the same issue? Could be just you.

Have you had your electric company put a recording volt meter on it yet?

Haven't asked, but I'd assume so. I have a year old 200A panel, and the power company rewired everything from the street to my house right before that

Didn't know they would do that

It went out again late last night for about 30 seconds

Some do it some don’t. You might need to pay for it yourself. Need to see where the problem is coming from.

I'd ask, if they are, then get Entergy out there to check pole connections.

Didn't know this either, but I will tomorrow. Thx NYC.

ETA: Seems Entergy does do it, but they have to have a good reason. I would
think multiple homes having issues would be a "good reason".

This happened at an older house we lived at a few years ago a 8-10 times a day. Finally after years of ignoring it a storm hit and it got worse so we called the electric company. Lineman can out and looked at the box up the street and it turned out to be a loose connection. Fixed it in 5 minutes and haven't had an issue since.

You have either an undersized transformer or service line to your house...call your electric company and complain.

No answer for your power problem but I thought I'd weigh in and say that radio controlled (atomic) clocks are awesome. Every clock I own is radio controlled and never have to be set, even after power outages. And they set themselves back and forward during DST changes. And they are always accurate to the second with U.S. atomic time.

Do they make atomic syncing ovens and microwaves? Those are the most annoying, because they flash after the power goes out.

Entergy said they haven't received any other complaints, but to call when it happens again. I ordered the Eaton 900w UPS, and it is hopefully going to be here today

UPS came in today, and is up and working. I thought it was DOA, but after reading the manual, it turns out you have to plug in the UPS before plugging everything else in. Didn't work the other way around.

Doing general light duty tasks, it says I can get ~30 minutes of battery backup. I have an old plasma plugged into it, and that draws 1/3 the power of my CPU and two monitors.

The fan noise annoys me, so I'm gonna look into replacing it with a higher quality one
