If I was going with a windows machine, I would build something with a bit more umph to be able to play the more resource demanding games and emulators.

cringeworthy name trying to compete with raspberry pie
that aside its a great idea but crippled pricewise by microsoft licensing.
having said all that, i personally love the idea of a windows mini-pc to compete against retropie considering windows mame emulators and front ends are pretty sweet but its going to be hard to justify this over a used full size dell optiplex you can pick up on ebay for the same price or less.

Yeah, running a full size is pretty cheap, you can get away with a pretty light graphics card on a MAME machine. I actually prefer an old used AMD graphics card that works arcadevga to run on an old school CRT. All you got to get is a decent processor and you have a mean Arcade PC. Not nearly as costly as a modern gaming machine with a good graphics card.

Anyone seen a TMNT cabinet back on sale anywhere for $299?
They had them on sale at Walmart in Thibodaux for $249 around Christmas, should have picked one up.

wow, just found the 'crapmame' sub on reddit.
THIS MY FRIENDS is why we love arcade1up.
that monitor
buttons on both sides of joystick
again, monitor choice
is that like a shelf inside the bezel to lay your car keys on?
saving the best for last

What do almost any of those have to do with 1up cabinets?
Yeah the MAGA one is super legit.

state of the multi-cade industry before 1up came along.

Yeah, it is super easy to mod and still make the build look clean. 1UP does have decent panels.

no matter how ferocious your multi-cade is, it can't compete with this:

not enough room to put every light gun, steering wheel, spinner, trackball and flight yoke on a single cabinet.
1up changed the game. now we all want our own arcade

Hey!

I like my full size, but I have the room for it. That rampage control panel and the TMNT ones look horrible. Full size is still the way to go for more than 2 players.
Arcade1Up didn't invent the minicade, they just made them more affordable and mass produced. Smaller cabs like that have existed way before them.

I hate the dumb boosters, they are goofy.
Are there any kits where I can just purchase panels and then purchase monitor, etc?
Edt: You don't like the TMNT ones? I think they look fine. I'm looking for one on sale. Will disassemble in garage and spray a clear coat over panels with my cup gun.
Also might not put one of my extra Pi4s in the cabinet, might just through an iTX build with like a 1660. I want to cut out a port to plug controllers for N64 and GameCude games.
And, replace the panel with a 16:9.

Maybe on ebay where you can get something custom built, probably won't be anywhere close to Arcade1Up's prices. Mass producing really drives down the cost.

It's too small for 4 player, it's a really nice looking cab, but it's not a good fit for 4 players. Better off making it a 2 player cab when you redo the cheap joysticks and buttons. I have a huge control board, it still gets tight when 4 adults start playing on it.

I couldn't find 4ppl to play if I tried.
All IRL ppl I know stopped playing video games nearly 20yrs ago, and I'm 33.
It would just be me modding it and maybe the GF playing, once.

I don't mind paying, I will gut the system anyway. After seeing the TMNT panels, I just want one. TMNTs and that cabinet was like most, my favorite.

TMNT art is definitely a classic, same reason I restored the Blitz cab I bought into a TMNT cab.

I knew you had a nice multi-cade from your Gaming Board posts (where this thread should be). However, did not realize you had TMNT vinyls/panels, is that relatively new?

Think I built it in 2011.
This was taken not long after I finished it, I need to get a new picture, but that requires cleaning up that part of the basement. It's a bit more finished than when we first moved into it in this pic.

Is that a CRT?
If not, what panel?
