CAD PSA - linear garage door opener is the bomb

i bought 2 off ebay for $50/ea, they came in last night and i had both installed within the hour.
GDZ005 is the version you want; 128bit encryption/zwave+ so pay attention to before you purchase; the IRIS and other clones are only zwave so shop around. you want the latest zwave security with your garage doors.
anyway, chamberlain can eat a bag of dicks; i have a marantec garage door system for my doors which has a shitton more features than chamberlain at a much better price.
chamberlain controls the wifi and api so they told marantec to EABOD and refused to support the 'non chamberlain' door openers.
linear literally connects the 2 wires into the 'doorbell' wires going into the unit so it supports virtually anything.
add in local control with the linear (zwave), ability to blast zwave as a repeater, a cheaper price and then chamberlains inexplicable decision to charge a MONTHLY FEE to use their product with IFTTT, cloud-based control and AFAIK they can die in a fire.
so far i'm loving this setup.
tl;dr cad fell in love with a garage door opener.

Why do I need a connected garage door?

for me its because i have 4 kids (2 teenagers that drive) and i like to get alerts at work if one of my irresponsible brats left the garage door open.
and of course there are times when i am leaving the house and completely space out and don't close the door on the way out and i'm already out of range of the opener on my visor.
and then there's that moment when i'm about to drift off to sleep and suddenly realize i hadn't closed the garage doors so i can just tell alexa to do it and roll over and go to sleep.

2nd what CAD said. When we leave the house, like walking the dogs, the door will automatically close once we are off the home wifi. Another is at night, I have it set to automatically close 10 mins after it opening between sunset and sunrise.
I've also used mine to open the door when the homelink in my car decides it doesn't want to open the door. Gives a backup way to open it.

another good use case. nobody thinks to carry the little remotes with them and if you ever take it out of your car even for a minute its guaranteed to get misplaced.

I'm just amazed you got something to work.
I've got 5 to 3 odds that says you'll be back here within a week with a garage door problem.

Can you link the item you bought? Not finding any other items on eBay fitting your description

Amazon link
ebay
I don't see any for sale nearly as cheap as what I bought and I'm not making it easy for you scary people to connect the dots to my eBay name but a search of completed auctions will turn it up pretty quick.
Eta you don't have to go with the gd00z-5 version but personally I would. It's the latest and greatest and supports zwave+.
