CAD is back doing shite around his house, comment and a question

so the other night it was raining and there was a blue-white electrical show going on under the boardwalk. not the most reassuring thing to see going on beside your house
anyway, i killed the circuit and the next day found wiring under the boardwalk that had been eaten(?) through or something had happened to expose both copper wires and the rain was making things conduct.
FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE
CAD decided perhaps wrapping this with a little electrical tape wasn't the most secure solution and called a friend who is an electrician.
long story short he cut out the bad section and put pipe around all the exposed wire and mounted it under the boardwalk which is how it should have been done from the start.
as part of this he's installing some led lights hidden under the handrail along the 160ft or so of boardwalk i have because its extremely dark out back and there are several steps up and down. originally i was going to hit the edges of the steps with glow-in-the-dark paint but well, this is a tad a more professional.
so where is this going? well i asked him about running power to the 4 brick sections over the ditch at the street (i have a circular drive)to install lights on them but there's no way to get there without breaking concrete because of where the electricity runs now and the driveway going from street to street. i have no idea what you call those things that live at the end of your driveway made of bricks that go over the ditch.
he said 'no problem, i can hook up an electrical transmitter and shoot wireless power to the lights so we won't have to break the concrete'
so i just nodded like i knew what the hell he was talking about but i've tried looking this up online and cant find crap.
anyone heard of this? sounds tesla-ish but i don't actually see any products that do what he's talking about. he would have to beam electricity about 150" downhill to the brick.

Ya, he's messing with you.
But I think this is one of the conspiracy theories surrounding Tesla's death. Maybe not though.

Way too many words.
I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say the tl;dr is: Cad works on things and problems occur.

well engineers from MIT have developed a way to transmit power wirelessly and lit up a light bulb.

Just for clarity, is a boardwalk and a porch the same thing? I’m from south of NOLA and don’t get out much
BUTTTTT
at least I knew this was impossible
You can find ‘wireless power’ right next to the blinker fluid and left handed screwdrivers at your local hardware store

quote:well that not true. The tech is being developed but only in labs. And Tesla did exactly that but it just was efficient enough.

Shouldn't you be starting a thread on Sonos Air Play 2 integration

I can't figure out if you are talking to yourself.

Oh blow me

no. its an actual boardwalk that runs from the back of my house down to the pool. about 200ft or more of wood which was a PITA recently when i had to replace rotted boards & paint the entire thing.

Also sounds like IF that did exist, it'd give you cancer in 5 years.

I've got it on my desk. I'd take a picture of the apparatus, but my phone is on top of it. I heated up my lunch with power transmitted by radio waves, too.
The electrician was definitely fricking with CAD, though.

I assume by this, you mean the Lightify RGBW Outdoor strips. Just requires 10 strips with outlets every 10 feet. Not too much work

Clearly he’s fricking with you.
You could use solar power.
Or tunnel under the driveway. Pretty easy to do.
I believe they are called retaining walls/headwalls/bulkheads.

Was going to suggest the same thing until I remembered who the OP was
